Prolonged rain and floods in recent days have caused serious damage to the traffic system in Quang Ngai province, with more than 290 landslides, subsidence, road surface erosion and drainage systems on National and Provincial Highways. The volume of landslides is estimated at about 270,000m³, disrupting traffic and causing initial damage of about 120 billion VND.
Many vital routes such as National Highway 24, 24B, 24C and routes DT622B, DT623, DT626, DT673... were severely damaged. More than 360 inter-commune and inter-village routes were also eroded, many bridges and culverts were washed away, making travel and transport of goods difficult.
The Department of Construction has mobilized forces and machinery to work day and night to clear rocks and soil, cut down fallen trees, reinforce slopes and handle complex landslides. Currently, most of the national highways and provincial roads have been opened to traffic in the first phase, but many locations are still waiting for a complete repair.
Due to the large extent of damage and complex terrain, the authorities determined that significant support resources from the Central Government were needed to completely restore the traffic system after the flood.
