These days, the people of Vinh Phuc are enthusiastically celebrating the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2. The victory of the August Revolution is a brilliant milestone in the nation's history, an immortal epic in the struggle for national liberation, opening a new era - the era of national independence associated with socialism.

In 1945, World War II entered its final stage, with victory belonging to the Allied forces with three main pillars: the Soviet Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom. As soon as the Soviet Union attacked the Japanese fascists, on August 13, 1945, the Party Central Committee convened a national conference of cadres in Tan Trao (Tuyen Quang), launching a general uprising to seize power.
In his letter calling on the people of the whole country, President Ho Chi Minh pointed out: “The decisive hour for the destiny of the nation has come. The people of the whole country must stand up and use our own strength to liberate ourselves.”
On August 16, the National Congress opened, passed the general uprising order of the Viet Minh Central Committee and 10 major policies of the Viet Minh, and elected a provisional government.
Following the call of the Party Central Committee and the call of President Ho Chi Minh, more than 500,000 people of all ethnic groups in Vinh Yen and Phuc Yen provinces rose up to seize power, break the feudal chains and the domination of French colonialism, and take control of the nation's destiny.
The uprising first broke out in Lap Thach district, then quickly spread to other districts. In the villages, the Party committees, the Viet Minh Front and the government sent cadres to organize people to protest, forcing the village chiefs to hand over books, documents, seals and weapons. Then, they organized rallies to declare the abolition of the enemy government and announced the establishment of provisional revolutionary committees at the commune level. By August 31, the people of all ethnic groups in Vinh Yen and Phuc Yen provinces had successfully completed the seizure of power in the entire province.
The victory of the August Revolution in Vinh Phuc has profound historical significance. Under the leadership of the Party, directly led by the Provincial Party Committee, the people of Vinh Phuc fought to liberate themselves from slavery and become citizens of an independent Vietnam.
Over the past 79 years, the stature, significance of the victory and lessons learned from the August Revolution remain intact. Vinh Phuc has creatively applied the lessons learned from the revolution to the process of building and developing the homeland and the country. From a purely agricultural province, Vinh Phuc has become one of the industrial provinces with the most dynamically developing economy in the country.
In the first 6 months of the year, the province's economic scale reached 80,700 billion VND, economic growth rate reached 6.26%, average GRDP value per capita reached 130.5 million VND/year. The economic structure shifted positively towards industrialization and modernization.
In the first 6 months of the year, the province's total budget revenue is estimated at more than 15.5 trillion VND, up 3.8% over the same period in 2023. Investment attraction has been a bright spot in the country for many consecutive years. FDI attraction in the first 6 months of the year achieved high results with a total capital of 435.8 million USD, up 28% over the same period in 2023 and exceeding the annual plan target. DDI investment attraction reached more than 2,380 billion VND, reaching 43.3% of the 2024 plan.
The transport infrastructure system has been improved in a synchronous and modern direction. The appearance of rural and urban areas has changed a lot, and people's lives have been increasingly improved and enhanced. The fields of culture, society, health, education, etc. have all achieved outstanding achievements, contributing to improving people's lives.
The people of all ethnic groups in the province always promote the spirit of solidarity, actively participate and contribute to the cause of local socio-economic development. Political and ideological education is given importance with the organization of many specific activities, fostering patriotism, revolutionary spirit, national pride, arousing the will to contribute and the desire to rise up in each person.

Born and raised in the revolutionary homeland of Van Truc (Lap Thach), Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, class 8A1, Van Truc Secondary School is always proud of the revolutionary tradition of her homeland. Bich Ngoc said: “Every year, when the anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2nd) comes, my friends and I get to listen to veterans tell stories about the heroic memories of the nation. We feel that great historical moment through stories like that.
Through stories and history lectures, we understand more about the history of our nation; are more proud of the revolutionary fighting tradition of our heroic homeland; and appreciate and be grateful for the contributions and sacrifices of our ancestors for the independence and freedom of our Fatherland.
I tell myself to try harder in studying and training to become a useful citizen for society, contributing a small part to building my homeland and country to become richer and stronger.
Promoting the spirit and values of the August Revolution in the cause of national construction and defense, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Vinh Phuc province continue to firmly uphold the goal and ideal of national independence associated with socialism based on the foundation of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought.
Be ready to fight against all plots and acts of sabotage by hostile forces, firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; promote socialist democracy, care for the material and spiritual life of the people; seize favorable opportunities, proactively overcome difficulties, develop the economy and society extensively, comprehensively and sustainably.
