Currently, Muong Bu commune has about 33 hectares of lychee orchards, concentrated in the villages of Ta Mo, Hua Bo, Sub-district 2, Bung Dien, Muong Bu, Nang Phai, Dong Luong, etc. This year, thanks to favorable weather, the lychee yield is estimated at 380 tons, an increase of about 130 tons compared to last year. The lychees have an attractive appearance and a sweet, refreshing taste, so traders come to buy them right from the beginning of the season at prices ranging from 20,000 to 35,000 VND/kg depending on the variety.

The family of Mr. Lo Van Thang, from Dong Luong village, currently owns nearly 1 hectare with over 200 lychee trees that are ready for harvest. These days, his family hires 10 additional local laborers to harvest, sort, and package the lychees, with an income of 300,000 - 350,000 VND per person per day.
Mr. Thang shared: "Previously, my family grew corn and cassava, so the economic efficiency wasn't high. In 2016, after learning from the lychee cultivation model of other households in the commune, my family boldly switched to grafted lychee trees. From the beginning of the season until now, my family has harvested more than 5 tons of lychees, generating nearly 150 million VND in revenue. Besides selling to traders, my family also promotes the product on Facebook and Zalo, and many tourists come to visit and experience picking lychees in the orchard."

The Doan Ket Cooperative, located in sub-district 2, is one of the main buyers of lychees for people in Muong Bu commune and the surrounding area. During the harvest season, the cooperative buys about 5 tons of lychees daily to supply traders inside and outside the province. The cooperative provides seasonal employment for about 15-20 local workers with an income of 250-300 thousand VND per person per day.

Ms. Lo Thi Thuy, Director of Doan Ket Cooperative, said: "In recent years, the cooperative has encouraged households to cultivate lychee trees in a safe manner, limiting the use of pesticides and prioritizing organic fertilizers to improve product quality. The cooperative also links with lychee growers to support product consumption. This year's lychee crop ripened about 10-15 days earlier than usual, so harvesting and consumption have been smooth."
Lychee trees are gradually becoming a crop that provides stable income for people in Muong Bu. Mr. Lu Van Qui, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Bu commune, said: "In the coming time, the commune will continue to encourage people to expand the planted area in a way that suits the actual conditions, encouraging the conversion of less productive land to fruit tree cultivation, including lychee trees. At the same time, we will encourage people to cultivate them safely, strengthen links with cooperatives and businesses in product consumption, and gradually build concentrated growing areas and increase the value of Muong Bu lychees."
Lychee trees in Muong Bu have initially brought economic benefits and stable income to growers, opening up a new direction for the development of commercial fruit crops and contributing to improving the lives of local people.
