Preparations for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 are being completed with many items expected to officially open next December.

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien directly inspected the main areas of the exhibition, including the grandstand area, the stage where the opening ceremony took place, and the indoor and outdoor exhibition areas. Here, the subcommittees on content, reception, security and communications reported on the implementation status and results of preparations for each assigned task. Accordingly, the construction items are being completed on schedule, ensuring quality and safety requirements. The grandstand and stage areas have been basically completed; the opening ceremony script and rehearsals are also underway.
The opening ceremony is expected to feature a flyover, with the participation of about 2.200 special forces soldiers with impressive martial arts performances, along with the appearance of the Border Guard with 80 military dogs and 80 trainers. The entire event is held on an area of over 100.000m², divided into 18 different areas. In addition to the areas displaying weapons and equipment, military, the exhibition also has conference areas, areas cuisine and the area introducing achievements in building the Armed Forces and building a national defense. In particular, the exhibition will focus on introducing the culture, country, people and the Vietnam People's Army, contributing to creating a highlight to attract visitors.
The outdoor exhibition will include weapons and equipment in service with the Vietnam People's Army and technical equipment produced by defense industry enterprises. According to the plan, 69 types of modern Vietnamese weapons and military equipment will be on display. So far, three countries including the US, Russia and Italy have registered to participate in the outdoor exhibition, along with many other units. The exhibition will introduce defense industry products, dual-use products and domestically produced technical equipment, with the participation of 11 ministries, sectors and localities.
Internationally, as of 8/11, more than 140 companies from 27 countries have confirmed their participation in the exhibition, including countries such as Russia, the US, France, Germany, the UK, Japan, South Korea, China, Israel, and India. The number of booths this year has increased 239 compared to the 2022 exhibition, exceeding the set target. The exhibition reception board said that there are currently 40 international delegations confirmed to attend, including delegations at the ministerial level, the Chief of the General Staff, and Deputy Ministers of National Defense.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized the need to organize a professional exhibition, creating a strong impression and making a mark on international friends. Reception and ceremony work needs to be carefully prepared, ensuring an open and airy exhibition space, combining modern technology to bring a convenient and safe experience to visitors. In addition, he requested to focus on communication and promotion work, arranging logos and exhibition identification at airports, streets and around the event area. The exhibition is not only a military event but also an opportunity to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, thereby promoting defense cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, supporting defense enterprises to improve their competitiveness and sustainable development.
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan praised the agencies and units for actively implementing the preparation work, ensuring the completion and progress of some items. He requested the subcommittees to continue reviewing and completing the infrastructure, overall decoration and coordinating with the General Department of Defense Industry to develop a scenario for the rehearsal, ready for the opening ceremony in the month of December 2024.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is not only a big playground for countries and businesses in the defense sector, but also an opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate its organizational capabilities and affirm its increasingly important role in international defense cooperation.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.
