China's Ministry of Public Security said in a statement that the suspects had defrauded large sums of money from Chinese citizens.

More than 100,000 people engage in telecom fraud every day at at least 1,000 scam centers in Myanmar, which shares a border with southwestern China, Chinese state media reported.
Chinese police began cracking down on scams in September and this month carried out “rapid raids” on criminal gangs in Myanmar.
Chinese police say the leader of a Myanmar gang committed suicide last week while on the run from Myanmar authorities. Three gang members were later handed over to Chinese police.
As online scams targeting Chinese citizens in Myanmar increase, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong visited Myanmar this month, saying China is willing to work with Myanmar to tackle cross-border crimes, including online gambling.
Mr. Nong also said China supports Myanmar in maintaining stability on the shared border as the Myanmar government fights insurgents in the area.
Myanmar's ruling military is facing attacks on multiple fronts in the border region as an alliance of ethnic minority insurgent groups and rebel factions intensify fighting in areas near the border.
“China is playing a constructive role in its own way to promote peace talks and calls on relevant parties to put the interests of the people first, cease fire and end the war as soon as possible,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
