On the afternoon of December 13, the Provincial Department of Fisheries held a conference to review fisheries work in 2024 and deploy tasks and plans for 2025.

Speaking at the conference, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development highly appreciated the results achieved in fisheries development in 2024.

In 2024, aquaculture will still face many difficulties and challenges due to natural disasters and the increasingly serious impacts of climate change. Along with that, the prices of fish fry, feed, materials in aquaculture, and fuel prices are increasing. However, the results of aquaculture production basically met the set plan. Of which, the output of fish fry is estimated at 180 million, the fish farming area is 2,713 hectares, the number of cages is 5,094, the aquaculture output is estimated at 10 thousand tons. Aquaculture exploitation activities are mainly on the Da River hydroelectric reservoir, with an estimated output of 2,550 tons.

During the year, the Department of Fisheries organized inspections of cage aquaculture activities in the Da River reservoir area. Built a pilot model of raising barramundi in cages in Son Thuy commune (Mai Chau), Tien Phong commune (Da Bac), Thai Binh ward ( Hoa Binh city); coordinated with relevant agencies and units to release 17,500 fish fry on the Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir.

In 2025, the Department of Fisheries will continue to coordinate with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to improve the effectiveness of disease prevention, proactively develop disease prevention and control plans; strengthen quarantine of breeds and disease surveillance to promptly handle and prevent widespread spread. Carry out information and forecasting work on the market and prices well to promptly advise people on selecting the objects, time and density of stocking to avoid the risk of price loss due to oversupply; organize fish stocking to supplement and regenerate resources on the Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir.
