By 2025, expand university admission opportunities through separate exams

The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first exam organized under the 2018 General Education Program. Therefore, the admission plan of universities is a major concern of 12th grade students and parents.

It is noted that in 2025, many universities will continue to organize their own exams with the expectation of expanding the scale of enrollment. The separate exams are also planned by higher education institutions to be more innovative in accordance with the new general education program.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University's aptitude test is one of the largest private entrance exams in the country.

Entering its 8th year of organization, in 2025, this exam is expected to continue to be used for admission to more than 100 universities and colleges with many different quota levels. Of which, schools under Ho Chi Minh City National University will consider an average of 30-50% of the quota.

According to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the exam will have adjustments in the exam structure to match the changes of the new program. These adjustments will lead to changes in the way universities select admissions based on the results of this exam next year.

To comply with the 2018 General Education Program, the 2025 Hanoi National University's capacity assessment exam will also have many new points.

Director of the Hanoi National University Examination Center Nguyen Tien Thao said: "The format, questions, and exam papers are adjusted to suit the 2018 General Education Program, with changes in the quality of the Student Competency Assessment exam questions."

The HSA exam questions are approximately 75% multiple choice questions with 4 options. The new point in the 2025 competency assessment exam structure will be to add cluster questions in all sections and exam topics.

Especially from 2025, in addition to the Science exam, this year the structure of the competency assessment exam will have an additional English exam so that candidates registering for foreign language-related majors can choose to serve the admission process.

It is expected that the Hanoi National University's capacity assessment exam will be held in 6 rounds at 19 testing locations, and registration will open on February 8, 2025.

In 2025, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam will have an adjustment in time, organized later than the previous year. It is expected that the school will organize the thinking assessment exam in 2025 in 3 rounds, starting from the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year and ending in May.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology also plans to expand the location of the thinking assessment exam in remote and mountainous areas.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has announced sample test questions for the specialized competency assessment exam from 2025.

According to the announcement from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the school continues to develop specialized competency assessment exams for the following years. At the same time, to be consistent with the new general education program, this exam from 2025 of the school will have many improvements in the exam structure of the subjects.

Similarly, in the Northern region, Hanoi Pedagogical University also plans to continue the competency assessment exam for admission to the school and some other pedagogical schools.

Notably, from the 2025 admission season, 12th grade students will have an additional method of admission to pedagogical schools when Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 recently announced that it plans to organize its own exam and use the results of this exam to consider admission to university.

In addition to the plan to organize its own exam, in 2025, Hanoi National University of Education 2 will continue to recruit based on the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University, Hanoi National University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education.

In addition to the above-mentioned separate exams, many other separate exams are also held by universities; however, up to now, no specific information has been announced for 2025.
