Accordingly, at this time, people in Le Xuyen village were startled when they heard a loud explosion, white smoke rose more than 5 meters from people's houses. Then many people ran to see a hole about 1 meter deep and 2 meters wide appeared in the rice field. The explosion was recorded by a local camera.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dong, whose house is about 30 meters from the explosion site, said he heard a loud explosion that shook his entire house. The explosion caused soil and water to fly about 10 meters.
According to local people, this explosion could have been caused by bombs left over from the war. Luckily, no one was nearby when the explosion happened.
That same evening, Mr. Tran Viet Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Cua Viet Commune, said that the explosion occurred on rice fields that had been cultivated by local people for many years. Fortunately, the explosion did not injure anyone or damage any houses. According to Mr. Dung, during the war, Le Xuyen village suffered many bombs but rarely exploded spontaneously.
The incident is currently being further investigated by local authorities.
