Nguyen Thai Bao, a 12A1 student at Vu Quang High School, has just achieved an excellent score of 1,530/1,600 in the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) at the end of June. In particular, his math test achieved a perfect score of 800/800, and his reading and writing test achieved a score of 730. This achievement not only affirms his outstanding ability but is also a great source of pride for Vu Quang High School.
With 1,530 points, Thai Bao has entered the top 1% of candidates with the highest scores in the world , proving his persistent efforts and effective learning methods that he has been trying to apply over the past time. According to statistics from the College Board - the unit that organizes and supervises the SAT exam, every year there are about 2 million students in the world taking the exam, of which only 7% of candidates score 1,400 points or more. Achieving the 1,530 point mark has put Thai Bao in the group of rare talents globally.
Sharing his secret to success, Thai Bao confided: “To achieve this result, I think the most important thing is the ability to think critically and solve problems. For the Math section, it is not only about knowledge but also about how to approach complex types of questions, reasoning quickly and accurately under time pressure. As for the reading and writing section, it is very necessary to read and understand a variety of academic texts, from classical literature to modern science , combined with the ability to analyze the structure, vocabulary and intention of the author. I am fortunate to have a solid English foundation, which has helped me access international review materials easily and be more confident in exams that require specialized language skills.”

As a male student from a mountainous school, Thai Bao did not have many opportunities to access test preparation centers. However, that did not stop his determination. “I built a scientific and detailed SAT preparation plan for myself, starting with clearly identifying the strengths that needed to be promoted and the weaknesses that needed to be improved. Instead of complaining about the lack of materials, I made the most of the Internet, searched for information on reputable learning forums and joined online test preparation communities. Every day, I spent more than 4 hours studying by myself and this number could double on days off. Perseverance and self-discipline were the keys to helping me overcome all difficulties and achieve this result,” Thai Bao shared.
According to Thai Bao, SAT scores are increasingly being highly regarded by leading universities in Vietnam in their admissions process. In particular, international joint programs or majors taught entirely in English often consider SAT scores a major advantage, opening the door to advanced learning environments right at home.
In addition to his excellent SAT score, Thai Bao also has an admirable academic record. He achieved an 8.5 IELTS score, won third prize, then first prize in the provincial English competition for excellent students in grades 10, 11, and 12, and was always an excellent student in his class.

Commenting on his obedient student, teacher Thai Van Thanh - homeroom teacher of class 12A1 proudly shared: “Thai Bao is a student with a strong will to self-study and a spirit of progress. He constantly seeks and expands his knowledge beyond the textbooks. He is always proactive in asking questions, looking for advanced resources and is especially persistent with difficult exercises. The process of studying for the SAT exam requires perseverance and high concentration and he has proven that through each lesson and each test. He is truly a shining example of tireless efforts and self-directed learning ability.”
With this outstanding achievement, Nguyen Thai Bao plans to apply to the Foreign Trade University. Regardless of which path he chooses in the future, Bao's impressive achievements will certainly become a strong source of inspiration, motivating many other generations of students to strive to rise up and conquer the pinnacle of knowledge.

Thai Bao is the pride of his family, teachers and friends.
The SAT is a popular standardized test used by thousands of universities around the world for admission, especially in the United States.
