Food safety is of particular importance because it not only directly affects human health but also impacts economic and social development. Ensuring food safety contributes to political stability and socio-economic development. In recent years, Nam Tu Liem district has always focused on food safety, directing all levels and sectors to coordinate in propagating and implementing food safety work well in the district.

At the training session, Deputy Head of Food Safety Department, Hanoi Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development Nguyen Van Minh briefly introduced legal documents on food quality and safety.

Nam Tu Liem is a central district of the capital, with 280,000 people. The district is still in the process of strong urbanization, forming more urban areas and commercial centers. Along with that are the pressures of increasing mechanical population, health care and especially the issue of ensuring food safety.

Currently, the district has 4 commercial centers; 5 supermarkets; 9 traditional markets; the number of food production, trading and processing establishments is 3,996. Of which, the city manages 504 establishments, the district manages 563 establishments, and the remaining wards manage 2,929 establishments. Therefore, food safety management is a difficult problem in Nam Tu Liem.

To ensure food safety and protect consumers’ health, since the beginning of the year, the District People’s Committee has issued many documents and implementation plans. Accordingly, the District has identified the important task ahead as raising awareness of food safety for consumers and food production, processing and trading establishments.

Communication activities on food safety are promoted and implemented in many forms, contributing to creating positive changes in awareness and forming good habits on food safety for producers, traders and consumers.
