It can be affirmed that key education in particular, and education and training in general, have always received the attention and comprehensive investment of the province, with many synchronous and effective mechanisms and policies. Many students who won high prizes in national competitions for excellent students, international and regional cultural competitions, have been promptly rewarded by the province with huge sums of money. Last August, the province awarded a prize of 400 million VND to Ninh Quang Thang, a student of Ha Long Specialized High School for the 2022-2025 school year (won a bronze medal at the 37th International Olympiad in Informatics). and 200 million VND for teacher Ha Dai Ton, teacher in charge of the 2025 Informatics team of excellent students at Ha Long Specialized High School.
This is the bonus level stipulated in Resolution No. 63/2021/NQ-HDND (dated December 9, 2021) of the 14th Provincial People's Council, which stipulates the bonus and support regime in the training of excellent students of the province from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2025-2026 school year. Ninh Quang Thang shared: The attention and preferential policies of the province have created a great motivation for us to make efforts in studying. With the province's attention, key education work has been constantly developing, Quang Ninh students have continuously achieved many outstanding achievements in national and international intellectual arenas. For example, in the national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year, Quang Ninh had 110 candidates participating and won a total of 88 prizes, including: 2 first prizes, 27 second prizes, 30 third prizes, 29 consolation prizes.
In particular, the first prizes were awarded to the subjects of History and French. Notably, 3 teams of Biology, Geography, and Chinese had 100% of the students winning prizes. 3 teams of Physics, History, and English had 90% of the students winning prizes. Notably, 5 students entered the second round of the competition to form regional and international Olympic teams in 2025, including 1 student in Chemistry, 2 students in Biology, and 2 students in Information Technology.
Compared to the 2023-2024 school year, the 2024-2025 school year has increased by 3 prizes, continued to maintain the number of First prizes, increased by 4 Second prizes, increased by 2 Third prizes. The number of students winning prizes in 2025 accounts for 80% of the number of contestants, the highest in the past 10 years (2024: 78.7%; 2023: 65.56%; 2022: 53.33%; 2021: 45.56%; 2020: 58.89%; 2019: 48.89%; 2018: 55.68%, 2017: 67.05%; 2016: 61.36%, 2015: 67.07%).
At Ha Long High School for the Gifted, the leading educational institution in the province, in the past 5 years the school has had 1,102 provincial-level excellent student awards (144 first prizes, 249 second prizes, 359 third prizes, 349 consolation prizes) and 289 national excellent student awards (8 first prizes, 74 second prizes, 88 third prizes, 119 consolation prizes).
In the 2025-2026 school year, the whole province will continue to have 110 students taking the National Excellent Student Exam, in 11 subjects, of which Ha Long High School for the Gifted has 102 candidates, Hon Gai High School has 7 candidates, Dong Thanh High School has 1 candidate. The preparation for the organization of the National Excellent Student Exam has been closely guided and directed by the Department of Education and Training since the beginning of November. This year's exam is expected to take place from December 25 to December 26 at Ha Long High School for the Gifted.
