With an area of over 5,500 hectares, Siamese bananas are currently one of the popular crops in Ca Mau province. However, because they are mainly sold raw or simply processed, the economic value is still low, not commensurate with the potential. Mr. Thoi's project also comes from that reality.
Ca Mau currently has more than 5,500 hectares of banana growing area.
Mr. Mai Quoc Thoi, An Xuyen ward, representative of the Project group (including 4 members: Pham Chi Hoai, Ngo Minh Cam, Nguyen Thi Thanh Bach), said: The project's goal is to deeply process Siamese banana trees according to the green economic model - circular economy, turning Siamese bananas into a key agricultural product that can compete domestically and internationally.

The highlight of the project is the application of modern technology to utilize the entire banana tree, from the trunk, leaves, flowers to the fruit, to create a diverse product chain, in which green banana starch is identified as the main product. Thanks to its high starch content, the product supports digestion, controls blood sugar and weight, and is also a substitute for wheat flour and other nutritional powders.
Green banana powder is good for digestion, blood sugar control and weight.
Ca Mau bananas are grown on nutrient-rich land in a natural environment, creating a great advantage for producing high-standard products for the domestic and export markets. In addition, the project also utilizes agricultural by-products to produce: banana fibers for the green textile industry, banana leaves for bio-packaging, banana flowers for food processing, crushed banana stems for organic fertilizer or animal feed. Thereby, the model aims for 0% waste to the environment, in line with the province's sustainable development orientation.

According to the plan, the Project also applies a 100-hectare organic farming model and a combined banana model (banana - fish, banana - black apple snail, eco-tourism...), which can help banana farmers increase their income by 40-50% compared to present thanks to stable product consumption and added value from deep processing. It is expected that from the 3rd to the 5th year, revenue will reach about 8-10 billion VND/year, with a net profit of 20-25%. The Project also expects to create jobs for more than 100 local workers, contributing to keeping people in their hometown and developing the new rural economy.

Mr. Mai Quoc Thoi said: With the advantage of raw material areas, modern processing technology and the increasing trend of green consumption, the project is expected to contribute to making Siamese bananas a new key agricultural product of Ca Mau, while creating an important shift for the local agricultural sector towards high value - sustainability - environmental friendliness./.
