Speaking at the training course, Ms. Tran Le Chieu Bich, Head of the Department of Population and Family Planning of Ca Mau province, emphasized: "Improving knowledge and skills in counseling and communication for medical staff and population collaborators is of special importance in the current period, when the population sector is shifting its focus from "family planning" to "improving population quality".
Implementing Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW of the 6th Central Conference, Session XII, the population sector of Ca Mau province is striving towards the goal of building a healthy population and improving the quality of the race. Up to now, Ca Mau has implemented prenatal and newborn screening activities in 100% of communes, wards and towns. The initial results are very positive: more than 80% of pregnant women have access to information and communication about the significance of screening; about 70% of pregnant women are counseled and screened for at least 4 common congenital diseases and 70% of newborns are screened according to the basic service package.
These results affirm the efforts of the Ca Mau health sector in expanding access to high-quality screening services, aiming to reduce birth defects, protect the race and improve population quality, for a healthy and happy future for future generations.
