- Warning of new disease (TDP) on whiteleg shrimp
- Dat Moi deploys and replicates the super-intensive white-leg shrimp farming model
Tan Thanh Hamlet Cooperative currently has 30 members participating in the 2-phase shrimp farming model, with a total area of 40 hectares. Average income is 5-8 million VND/month/household, many households reach 10-20 million VND/month.
At the training course, the cooperative members listened to Associate Professor, Dr. Chau Tai Tao from the School of Aquaculture - Can Tho University introduce the 2-phase shrimp farming process, from preparing nursery ponds, rearing ponds, to managing the water environment, optimal stocking density, disease prevention, use of biological products and solutions to improve survival rate during the rearing and rearing process.
Associate Professor, Dr. Chau Tai Tao introduces the 2-phase shrimp farming process .
Associate Professor Dr. Chau Tai Tao said that the 2-phase shrimp farming model is becoming the mainstream trend of the modern shrimp industry thanks to its ability to better control the environment, reduce disease risks, shorten farming time and increase survival rate. Shrimp are raised in a closed, high-density but strictly controlled bio-safe environment; when transferred to commercial ponds, shrimp have good resistance and grow faster than traditional farming methods.
He emphasized three key factors that determine success, including: quality of breeds, maintaining a stable microflora system and applying water treatment technology suitable for local conditions. At the same time, he recommended that farmers strengthen technical links and update scientific advances to improve efficiency and move towards sustainable production.
The training course helps members of Tan Thanh Hamlet Cooperative improve their knowledge and production skills.
The training course helps people access advanced shrimp farming models, in line with the province's orientation for safe, effective and sustainable aquaculture development; improve knowledge and production skills. In addition, the Department of Fisheries guides the practical process, helping people easily apply the technique.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Duong, a member of Tan Thanh Hamlet Cooperative, said: “Previously, traditional shrimp farming often encountered diseases, shrimp grew slowly, and feed costs were high. Since switching to 2-phase farming, the pond environment has been better controlled, shrimp are healthy, survival rate is high, and farming time is shortened. Although the model requires higher initial investment capital, productivity is stable, easy to manage, and profits have been significantly improved.”

Highly appreciating the knowledge provided at the training course, especially the techniques of seed management, micro-organisms and water treatment - factors that determine the effectiveness of shrimp farming, people expect the 2-phase shrimp farming model to be widely replicated, contributing to increasing income and sustainable development of the local shrimp industry./.
