Elevate trade fairs to become national trade, economic and investment promotion channels

According to experts, the fair does not only stop at the goal of promoting trade and connecting trade, but it is also a comprehensive event to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, promote the very stable and attractive investment environment of Vietnam and above all, it shows the image of a very dynamic, very creative and aspiring Vietnam in the new era.

Sharing at the Seminar with the theme: "Elevating trade fairs to become a channel for promoting national trade and investment economy " organized by Industry and Trade Magazine, Director of the Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade Vu Ba Phu said that the Autumn Fair was successful beyond expectations and achieved the set targets and goals. At the Autumn Fair, we saw that there was a connection between 34 provinces and cities, which showed that there was a regional connection at each booth of 34 provinces and cities, specialties, cultural features, products with geographical indications typical of the region, industrial strengths, and not only stopping at industrial products but also going further, adding cultural features, customs, good things of the localities brought and demonstrated at the fair.

According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, the Fair gathered more than 2,500 domestic and foreign enterprises and organizations exhibiting at 3,000 standard booths, on a total area of ​​130,000m². Each day, the Fair attracted an average of 100,000 visitors - the highest among domestic trade promotion events.

Trading and buying and selling activities took place vigorously, with an average revenue of 300 million VND/standard booth/10 days, and a total direct revenue of nearly 1,000 billion VND, of which the local booth area reached 50 billion VND. The total value of transactions, contracts and memorandums of understanding reached nearly 5,000 billion VND, with the local area alone reaching nearly 500 billion VND.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also organizes many business connection activities, specialized conferences and seminars, cultural and artistic programs, fashion shows, concerts, and cuisine from three regions from 34 provinces and cities.

Along with that, trade connection activities between Vietnamese and international enterprises were also focused on, the system of trade counselors and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad promoted the fair, attracting about 200 international buyers to attend.

In order for the programs to be organized effectively, it is necessary to have the synchronous coordination of enterprises, industry associations, localities and state management agencies in strengthening the implementation of trade promotion activities, in an increasingly professional direction, with focus, key points and closely linked to the practical needs of the market.

The gradual completion of a modern, integrated and synchronous trade promotion ecosystem will be an important driving force to support the Vietnamese business community in improving its competitiveness and affirming its role in the regional and international markets.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh My - Deputy Consul General of Vietnam in Sydney, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia said that the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia organized a delegation of 7 Australian businesses operating in various fields to attend the Autumn Fair, contributing to expanding trade cooperation. In addition to displaying and introducing products at the Fair, the Australian business delegation also participated in conferences, seminars, and met with the Department of Industry and Trade of the provinces and Business Associations of the provinces to maximize business benefits when participating in the Fair. Australian businesses responded positively to participating in the fair as well as the support work, and expressed their desire to continue participating in trade promotion activities with Vietnam in the future.

Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong - Economic expert, Member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, expressed the view that it is necessary to build a logistics system owned by Vietnam, worthy of organizing large trade fairs; continue to organize diverse events and trade fairs with many different topics. In particular, the State and Government need to have support policies to create markets, create livelihoods, create jobs, and then attract budget from there...

"Continue to research to improve the organization of fairs in the future, in which it is necessary to mobilize organizations at a professional, modern level with the participation of the Government, ministries, local branches... considering this as the political and economic task of the whole system" - Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong said.
