On the morning of May 8th, the Department of Science and Technology of Ha Tinh province held a meeting to review and approve the project "Establishing, managing, and developing the Huong Son Goat - Ha Tinh certified trademark" for goat meat products of the former Huong Son district.
The project is led by the Center for Technology and Intellectual Property Research (CIPTEK) and will be implemented from November 2023 to March 2026. The total project budget is over 833 million VND.
The project aims to establish and exploit the brand of Huong Son goat meat products through intellectual property tools; build a model for managing, using, and developing the certified trademark "Huong Son Goat - Ha Tinh"; contribute to increasing the value of the product, increasing income for livestock farmers, and promoting local economic development.
During the implementation process, the research team conducted investigations and surveys on the current status of goat farming, processing, and consumption in 9 communes within the project area, including: Huong Son, Son Giang, Son Tien, Tu My, Kim Hoa, Son Tay, Son Hong, Son Kim 1, and Son Kim 2.
Surveys show that the Huong Son area has favorable natural conditions for developing goat farming, with its hilly ecosystem and abundant natural food sources, resulting in firm, flavorful goat meat with a unique taste.
The project team has completed many important tasks, including: a report on the investigation of product reputation and quality; the creation of a map of production areas; the design of a certification mark; the development of product certification criteria; regulations for the management and use of the mark; a brand identity system; and the organization of training courses, workshops, and pilot implementation of granting the right to use the certification mark to eligible organizations and individuals.
After hearing the summary report, counter-arguments, and discussions from the members, the specialized science and technology council proceeded to vote on the project's acceptance.
As a result, the project was unanimously assessed by the Council as meeting the acceptance requirements and was rated as Fair.
The certification mark “Huong Son Goat - Ha Tinh ” has been granted a trademark registration certificate by the Intellectual Property Office under Decision No. 27128/QD-SHTT.IP dated February 26, 2026. This is a significant achievement in establishing intellectual property rights, protecting the brand, and ensuring the origin of Huong Son goat products in the market.
