Nelly Korda goes blank in 2025: A season without wins, but full of value

A difficult season without a win

The 2025 LPGA season has come to a close, and for Nelly Korda, a winless year is hard to imagine after a brilliant 2024 with 7 titles. On the surface, the number of “0” wins seems to reflect a decline in performance, but in reality, this season has brought the 27-year-old golfer valuable experiences, helping her mature both in skill and spirit.

In her final appearance at the Tour Championship at Tiburon Golf Club, Korda’s final swing from the middle of the fairway on the 18th hole became the season’s defining image. The shot was elegant, the ball flew in the right direction, but her final birdie putt stopped just short of the edge, forcing her to finish with a par. It seemed like the entire 2025 season was wrapped up in that moment: beautiful, hard-worked, but not victorious.

Statistically, Nelly Korda has remained consistent, with many metrics improving from last year. Her average score, Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, birdie percentage, and bogey avoidance are all higher than in 2024. Her greens are consistent, while her putting continues to be a strong point. The only stat that has dropped is her greenside play, from 0.42 to 0.13, but she still leads the LPGA in scoring on Par 5s.

Korda also made the cut in 19 of 19 tournaments and finished in the top 10 nine times, enough to show that she has not declined, but just lacked luck in hitting the right decisive shots. As Lydia Ko once commented: “Statistics don’t always reflect the results. There are too many variables and you are competing with 143 other golfers. Just looking at the number of wins is not enough.”

Journey to overcome challenges

The 2025 season has been a physical challenge for Korda, who has battled a serious neck injury for nearly a year, had to withdraw from the Hanwha Lifeplus International in October, and has never felt fully fit.

Yet she accepts this reality calmly, without complaint or self-pity, because for Korda, professional sports are always inevitably challenging. Injuries, bad shots and balls that don't go the way she wants are common, and she knows that sometimes golf is just a game of fragile moments.

Korda's spirit was also tested when Jeeno Thitikul emerged victorious, winning the season-ending Tour Championship and taking the world No. 1 spot, while she had to finish in third place, six strokes behind. But instead of being crushed, Korda looked at the season with a positive attitude.

Korda calls it a “grinding journey” with many ups and downs, helping her grow spiritually. Moments of success make her proud of the work she put in, while failures remind her of patience and constant effort.

When failure turns into motivation

One of the key factors that helped Korda get through the difficult season was her support network. Her caddies, family and friends helped her maintain mental stability and put the season in perspective.

“What I learned is that it’s okay to lean on others when things aren’t going well,” Korda said. “They show up every day, call, text, FaceTime, and I’m so grateful for that. It’s because of the people around me that I can see the true value of every shot and every moment on the court.”

The 2025 season, despite the lack of titles, was a testament to Nelly Korda’s perseverance, determination and talent. She still hit great shots, maintained consistency, improved many important stats and maintained relatively good health.

The setbacks are just temporary setbacks, like Rory McIlroy who went through a winless season and still returned to world number one. And with his talent and drive, Korda promises to come back strong in the following seasons. And the 2025 season will be the catalyst for future success.

“The 2025 season had many ups and downs, it helped me grow a lot. I am very grateful to the people around me. Success is never a straight line," Korda shared. The simple but powerful words, summarizing a difficult but valuable season, marked an important step in Nelly Korda's career.
