In a statement released on April 25, Alexander Savchuk, spokesman for the Russian military’s central combat group, said the force had launched several attacks on Ukrainian defenses in the Krasny Liman area. These attacks involved TOS-1A multiple launch rocket systems.
"In the Krasny Liman direction, units of the central strike group eliminated 170 enemy targets. TOS-1A multiple launch rocket systems were deployed and caused great damage to the Ukrainian army's defense line," Savchuk said.
According to the spokesman of the central assault group, this force shelled the positions of the 25th Airborne Brigade and the 58th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of Ukraine in the Yampolovka settlement. These shelling attacks caused many losses in troops and military equipment for the Ukrainian side.
Fighting at the Krasny Liman front in Donbass has been heating up recently, with both sides moving to increase their forces to the front line. On April 24, pro-Moscow officials in Lugansk confirmed that Ukraine was building temporary pontoon bridges to cross the Seversky Donets River, thereby approaching the Ukrainian army's defense line along this strategic river.

With its strategic location near key fighting areas in Donbass, observers believe that the fighting in Krasny Liman will continue to heat up in the coming time. Controlling this important area will open up many paths for the Russian or Ukrainian army to gain the upper hand in the East.
About TOS-1A, this multiple rocket launcher has been in service since 1987 and is one of the most powerful weapons in the Russian army's artillery arsenal. Designed to destroy enemy infantry in fortifications and light armored vehicles, TOS-1A is capable of launching missiles carrying thermobaric or incendiary warheads. These warheads, when exploded, will cause great damage to enemy infantry. Therefore, TOS-1 is also known by the nicknames "super solar fire cannon" or "thermobaric fire god".
The TOS-1A is mounted on the chassis of a T-72 tank and has a maximum range of 550km and the ability to fire 30 220mm rockets within 15 seconds. The effective range of this rocket artillery is about 10km.
On the Ukrainian battlefield, the TOS-1A "fire gods" are often used by Russia in raids on Ukrainian military bases. Although causing a lot of damage to the enemy, a large number of Russian TOS-1A rocket artillery were also destroyed by Ukrainian forces.
