Russia takes full control of Pokrovsk city, Ukrainian troops stop resisting

The last line of defense of the Ukrainian army in the Pokrovsk urban area fell and the Ukrainian army stopped resisting, to withdraw to the Myrnohrad urban area to await relief.

On November 10, the Russian military channel RVvoenkory reported that the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) continued to step up the offensive on Pokrovsk-Mirnograd. By the evening of November 9, the Russian army had reached Nakhimov Street, east of the Pokrovsk urban area, and at the same time entered the village of Rivne.

This advance marked the complete collapse of the remaining defense line of the Ukrainian Army (AFU) north of Pokrovsk and the Russians advanced beyond the northeastern outskirts of the city, i.e. east of the railway line; essentially defining the city's boundaries in this area.

Observations on the battlefield showed that no mass retreat of Ukrainian troops from Pokrovsk was recorded, it could be concluded that the majority of Ukrainian defenders in the city were destroyed by the RFAF. Some moved along the only available route, to the west of Myrnohrad; but ultimately it was hopeless.

Meanwhile, the area east of Myrnohrad has fallen under Russian control. RVvoenkory reported that the AFU had deployed six brigades to defend Pokrovsk in recent months. However, these brigades were largely eliminated in the unsuccessful counter-offensive south of Pokrovsk under the command of General Drapatiy.

But that would have put the RFAF out of action by tens of thousands of troops trying to defend Pokrovsk. Since May 2025, the RFAF has “packed” at least 1,200 military vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and other armored fighting vehicles, near Pokrovsk, according to visual observations (from UAVs and other sources) alone.

This figure is equivalent to a year's worth of armored vehicle aid from countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Germany. Currently, the RFAF is conducting a final offensive to eliminate local pockets of resistance north of Pokrovsk, and is conducting a joint operation west of Myrnohrad to complete control of the entire area.

The Military Summary channel reported that the RFAF continued to destroy Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk according to the pre-planned scenario on the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd front. Currently, the Russian army has advanced to the northern suburbs of Pokrovsk, completing the destruction of Ukrainian troops in the central and northwestern regions.

At the same time, Russian troops expanded their control over the Myrnograd urban area in the Sobornaya street area, which divides the city into eastern and western halves.

Readovka reported that two Russian forces are advancing towards each other; one is advancing from the Pokrovsk metropolitan area, which they control more than 90%, while the other is advancing from the Myrnograd metropolitan area. The two Russian offensive forces are only a few kilometers away from merging along the central axis of the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd cluster.

Once this connection was achieved, the remnants of the besieged Ukrainian garrison would also be split into two parts - northern and southern. A Russian soldier, codenamed "Shmel", who took part in the fighting in Pokrovsk, said: We came to the end of a street in the northwest of Pokrovsk. I saw a sign on the wall that read "Zapadnikov Ukrainy Street".

RVvoenkor channel quoted the Russian Ministry of Defense 's November 10 combat report as saying: "RFAF has captured the Gnativka area near Pokrovsk. During the encirclement of AFU units, in the Pokrovsk urban area, the 1435th Motorized Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Army liberated Gnativka from Ukrainian troops."

Rybar added that the RFAF, northeast of Pokrovsk, repelled seven AFU counterattacks from the Gryshyne village area, relieving the trapped units. The Russians also thwarted two attempts by the 425th Skala AFU Assault Regiment to break the encirclement in the north and northwest of Pokrovsk.

Rybar channel reported that in the Mirnograd municipality, the RFAF is advancing into the Vostochny district, in the south of the city, and heading towards the Zapadny district. Syriyakmaps channel reported that over the past two days, the RFAF has completed mopping up operations inside the 8th and Dinas districts of Pokrovsk. In addition, they have captured a new pig farm north of Mirnograd.

Thus, the efforts to launch the most elite units of the AFU General Staff into a counterattack, aiming to open a path for their units to escape from the encirclement in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad urban area, failed. It can be said that the "spark" of the Ukrainian army had not yet flared up before it quickly died out.

The loss of Pokrovsk was the heaviest defeat of the Ukrainian Army since the defeat at Bakhmut in May 2023. Thus, the process of transforming Pokrovsk into Krasnoarmeysk (the Russian name for the city of Pokrovsk) has reached its final stage.
