The Russian Military Review website reported that the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) advanced to the central railway station in the city of Siversk (Seversk) and took control of this important position. After the railway station, within a few hours, the buildings of School No. 1, as well as the infrastructure of the local agricultural market, were under the control of the RFAF. The strike force of the RFAF Southern Group, which reached the left (east) bank of the Bakhmutka River, cut the Ukrainian garrison of Seversk, located in the main (left bank) part of the city, into pieces. Meanwhile, in both parts of the city, the remaining units of the Ukrainian Army (AFU) were not only stopped by the Russian troops, but also prevented from withdrawing by obstacles, including the Bakhmutka River.
Thanks to the offensive operations northwest of the city, Russian assault groups have cut off another section of the Seversk-Lyman-Slavyansk road. This section of the road, south of Platonivka, was already under Russian control. Over the past few hours, at least 10 square kilometers of territory in and around Seversk has come under Russian control. The RFAF has also expanded its zone of control around the village of Svyato-Pokrovskoye, south of Seversk. All this suggests that the city is completely blocked. Although before the above-mentioned "Platonov" road was cut off, the Ukrainian garrison could still be supplied via the only route - the Kaleniki-Zakotnoye branch; now the AFU has lost even this option. Moreover, right in the heart of the city, the area controlled by the Ukrainian garrison continues to shrink. In this situation, defending the city with the remaining forces is “very difficult”. There have been many suggestions to withdraw from here to preserve the forces, but all were ignored by the higher AFU command. It can be said that a significant part of Siversk has been taken over by the RFAF. This process was facilitated by the preliminary cutting off of the main supply routes to the Ukrainian garrison in the city, including the one leading from Lyman. In parallel with the battle for Seversk, fighting is also taking place in this city north of Donetsk. Rybar reported that the RFAF broke through the defenses of the 10th Separate Assault Brigade AFU in the village of Svyato-Pokrovske, located south of Siversk. The Ukrainian troops had to retreat to the heights outside the village, but the hills near Svyato-Pokrovske and Reznikovka were no longer safe for them. These heights were the last line of defense at the southern end of the “bottleneck”, where the Ukrainian troops in Siversk could escape.
In Siversk, the RFAF is advancing in the center, south and east, encircling the city and cutting off enemy logistics, the RVvoenkor channel reported. They have captured AFU strongholds in the south and east of the city, consolidated in the east of Seversk and are breaking through to the central and southern areas. RVvoenkory channel added that on the Siversk front, the RFAF is increasing pressure on the logistics of the Ukrainian garrison, attacking strongholds along the forest belt near Dronivka and near the railway line. After taking control of Zvanivka, the Russian troops crossed the Bakhmutka River and are attacking Svyato-Pokrovskoye, advancing towards the city center from the south and northeast. Ukrainian military analysts from the Deep State channel also admitted that the Russian army has taken several positions east of Seversk and is reinforcing various areas of the city. The new area controlled by the RFAF is up to 3 square kilometers. "In the direction of Siversk, the RFAF has penetrated east and captured strongholds in the south and east of the city. Battles are underway in the central and southern areas. In the direction of Sloviansk, the RFAF has closed the encirclement between Fedorovka, Sacco and Vanzetti," said Ukraine's Petrenko channel.
According to Petrenko channel, Seversk is isolated and in danger of falling: "In the direction of Seversk, RFAF is launching attacks south and east of Dronovka along forest and railway strips, and in the eastern suburbs of Svyato-Pokrovske, aiming to increase pressure on the city's logistics. In the Svyato-Pokrovske area, combat operations are taking place at a high intensity, with the RFAF launching attacks on the center from the south and northeast." But the serious problems of the AFU do not end there. The RFAF 3rd Army is probing the approach to Seversk from Platonivka. The fall of the Seversk region marks the transition to the operation of the entire western front line of Soledar, which has been stalled since the summer of 2023. The main stronghold of the AFU in Donbass - the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk region - will soon become a "fire coordinate" for Russian UAVs. The Ukrainian defenders of Siversk are on the verge of being encircled, as the defense line is collapsing across the entire region. The critical enemy situation near Seversk has given the RFAF an opportunity to continue its offensive southward. Russian assault units have captured Vasyukovka, and are preparing for an assault on Kramatorsk.
The AFU General Staff has sounded the alarm: if the RFAF takes Malinovka, west of Vasyukovka, UAVs will begin hunting AFU targets in Kramatorsk. "Enemy UAV deployment points will approach at a distance that will allow them to destroy targets in Kramatorsk. There are currently no anti-UAV nets in the city," a pro-Kiev military observer reported. (photo source: Military Review, Rvvoenkory, Kyiv Post).
