The moon is the target of conquest by many countries.

Sputnik reported on November 29 that the Russian government has approved a cooperation agreement with China to build a joint research station on the moon.

The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and the China National Space Administration (CNSA) are planned to be the main partners in the project. However, both Beijing and Moscow have said that their “doors are still open” to foreign partners if they intend to participate in the future Russian-Chinese project.

The project is being implemented in three phases. First, Roscosmos and CNSA will adjust their lunar missions to jointly explore , determine the best location for the space station on the lunar surface, and verify technologies to ensure a safe and precise landing on the moon. During this phase, Russia is said to be planning to use the Luna-Glob lander.

Phase 2 aims to establish a control center for the lunar station, transport cargo, and set up modules in orbit to provide power, telecommunications services, and transportation services for the lunar station.

Phase 3 includes plans to explore the lunar surface, expand the functionality of modules, and support international partners in landing humans on the moon.

According to the document signed by Russia and China, goods transported to the moon under the project will be exempt from customs duties and other taxes.

As for the construction of the Luna-Glob and Luna-Resurs-1 spacecraft, this work is carried out within the framework of the Russian space program.

Earlier in October, Sputnik reported that the construction of the Russian-Chinese lunar research station could be completed in the 2035 to 2040 time frame.
