Dong Din Valley (Phu Thanh village, Hoa Quang Nam commune, Phu Hoa district, former Phu Yen province) may not be a very famous destination, but it is attractive because of its rolling green hills interspersed with vast pineapple fields and its pristine, unspoiled natural scenery.
The ideal time to visit is during the dry season from January to August, when the weather is sunny with little rain. In particular, if visitors want to see the clouds in Dong Din, the best time is from February to May, when it's easy to spot seas of clouds covering the pineapple valley.
According to Le Quy Tai, a local tour guide, Dong Dinh Valley is located about 50 minutes by motorbike from Tuy Hoa Ward (formerly Tuy Hoa City), and can be easily located via Google Maps.
However, the road into the valley has steep sections and hairpin bends, so to ensure safety, tourists should travel by motorbike to the foot of the hill, then trek about 5km through pineapple hills, following small streams to bathe and rest under the forest canopy.
Afterward, continue for another 3km to the summit of Dong Din peak to camp, listen to local stories, and enjoy fruits and drinks. From here, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the old Tuy Hoa city, the sea, and Chop Chai mountain…
Especially during the Lunar New Year (from February onwards), the pineapples here ripen to a beautiful golden color, creating a very eye-catching sight.

When visiting Dong Din Valley, tourists should not miss the opportunity to enjoy the region's famous pineapple specialty. The pineapples here are not large, but thanks to the suitable soil and climate, they ripen to a golden yellow, juicy color with a distinctive sweet taste.
According to locals, the rocky, steep terrain here means that plants mainly thrive on rainwater, yet it is very suitable for pineapple cultivation; the people cultivate them naturally, so the pineapples are clean and can be picked and eaten on the spot or bought as gifts.
Besides sightseeing, visitors can also experience harvesting pineapples with the locals and learn about the planting and care process.
"The Dong Din Valley is beautiful not only because of its scenery but also because of the beauty of the people's labor. Tourists can easily spot dark-skinned farmers riding motorbikes down from the hilltop, baskets full of pineapples on both sides, working from dawn until dusk. Their simplicity and hospitality are what make many tourists fondly remember them; just ask beforehand and the farmers will invite you to eat as much pineapple as you like," Mr. Tai said.
According to Mr. Tai, tourists should pack light, bring hiking shoes for navigating steep terrain, personal medication and mosquito repellent, water, a hat, etc., to ensure their health throughout the trip.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Linh, a tourist from Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province, shared: "Climbing mountains and camping in Dong Din valley was wonderful. What I liked most was seeing pineapple trees everywhere, and being able to pick pineapples myself and eat them right on the hill was a very novel experience."
The landscape in Dong Din Valley is not only suitable for relaxation but also an ideal "check-in" spot. From the vast pineapple fields, the small lake reflecting the clouds, the winding dirt road through the hillsides to the high points offering panoramic views of the valley, visitors can easily capture beautiful photos and create impressive photo albums from any angle.
