On the evening of January 23rd, the State Bank of Vietnam officially refuted inaccurate information circulating on social media regarding the circulation of banknotes ranging from 1,000 VND to 5,000 VND.
The State Bank of Vietnam stated that some social media sites are spreading information that the State Bank of Vietnam plans to eliminate banknotes in denominations from 1,000 VND to 5,000 VND. The State Bank of Vietnam affirms that the above information is inaccurate and has no legal basis.
According to the State Bank of Vietnam, the issuance, management, and circulation of Vietnamese currency are carried out by the State Bank in accordance with legal regulations, based on fully meeting the payment needs of the economy , in line with social realities, and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and businesses.
The State Bank of Vietnam requests that organizations and individuals refrain from posting or sharing inaccurate information regarding the planned elimination of banknotes ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 VND. Violators will be dealt with according to the law.
