Choosing a major: Consider your interests and market trends
To choose the right major, students must "weigh" many criteria. Photo: NH
According to Mr. Chung, each person will have their own selection principles, but to have the right orientation, it is necessary to have a vision of the industry's prospects, at least in the next 5 years.
The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2023 forecast shows that in the next 5 years, the labor market is likely to lose 23% of jobs. At the same time, 44% of workers' skills will change.
Reality has proven that many jobs, although very "hot" in the past, are gradually becoming outdated, with little room for development or being replaced by technology. If you only rely on your interests and choose a job that is no longer in demand, it will cause great risks.
Expert Vu Thai Ha, Director of Operations at eDoctor, commented that the world in general and Vietnam in particular are moving towards a digital society. This is also something to consider when choosing a suitable career. Because by choosing the right career and capturing the trends of society and existing industries, young people will have the opportunity to participate in the labor market more effectively and contribute more to society.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bui Minh Hieu, Director of Ha Long Company, said that as an employer, the unit will prioritize personnel with knowledge and digital technology skills. Students who proactively equip themselves with that knowledge and skills will create a competitive advantage.
"Healthy living" majors
Many experts in the field of education say that up to now, Law has always been considered a sustainable field of study.
Any business or organization that wants to operate and develop must comply with legal regulations, so the legal department is like a "three-legged stool". In the context of Vietnam's international economic integration with many complex legal issues, the demand for human resources in the legal industry with expertise and practical skills is very large.

Next, Logistics is considered one of the strongest and most stable developing industries in Vietnam, with an average growth rate of about 14-16%/year.
According to forecasts from the Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute, by 2030, the logistics industry will need 2.2 million additional workers, making this field of study always attractive to candidates.
A major that is considered to be timeless is Multimedia Communications. This is a major that is applied in many fields such as journalism, television, advertising, entertainment, education, etc. Therefore, the demand for human resources in this industry is always high and diverse.
MSc. Lawyer Trinh Huu Chung said that this major always leads the trend of choosing majors for students and parents, continuously ranking at the top of the list of applications for admission at GDU.
"Currently, the rapid development of technology and digital platforms is driving the demand for human resources in this field. Young people are especially fond of media work because of its dynamism, creativity, opportunities to express themselves and access to new technology," said Mr. Chung.
Learn from practice to sharpen skills
The above 3 majors are considered "golden tickets" to the future because of their inherent advantages in development potential. However, choosing a career is not enough. Competitive pressure from the labor market also requires students to hone their expertise and equip themselves with the right skills to create an early advantage.
Regarding training strategy, Master of Law Trinh Huu Chung said that GDU aims to train students with solid knowledge, solid expertise, professional style and to meet practical needs.
Accordingly, students learn through practice and have the opportunity to practice their profession early through internships, field trips, workshops, seminars with experts, etc. The Moot Court Competition is a "specialty" of the school that Law students love very much. This is an activity that describes cases and trials. Students can try to run a court, participate as judges, lawyers, etc.

Or for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, the school also regularly organizes internships and field trips to ports.
"Witnessing the working processes right at the seaport helps me have a more general perspective on my career orientation," Huynh Thi Anh Tuyet, a third-year student, shared after an internship at Cat Lai port, directly learning about the transit, delivery, and document processes.
The school also creates conditions for media students to film, take photos, write news articles, visit film studios, newspaper offices, etc. In particular, students can organize events, make films, reports, live TV shows, etc.

Recently, the school's "mark" was an event organized by the GDU Digital Media Department. At this event, two short films, two TV shows, four TVCs/viral clips by Multimedia Communication students received a warm welcome when shown in theaters.
With a training orientation towards application and practice, Gia Dinh University creates the best opportunity for students to learn through experience, training high-quality human resources in the future, meeting the requirements of the domestic and international markets.
It is known that in 2024, GDU will consider admission in 3 ways: considering high school transcript results, considering high school graduation exam results, considering Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment test results. In which, for the method of considering high school transcript results, candidates need to have an average total score of semester I, semester II of grade 11 and semester I of grade 12 of 16.5 points or more.
