
Lam Dong's agriculture is identified as the economic pillar of the local economy. The Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province said that Lam Dong's agricultural land is diverse, including: fertile basalt soil suitable for growing industrial crops, temperate soil suitable for growing vegetables, tubers, fruits and coastal land ideal for growing fruit trees and vegetables.
In the first 9 months of 2025, the province's total cultivated area will reach 320,000 hectares, an increase of 2.5% over the same period in 2024, the highest in the country. According to data from the relevant authorities, each year the locality exports 150 million vegetable and flower seedlings. The province's coffee growing area is about 500,000 hectares, with an output of about 200,000 tons.
Lam Dong is also the locality with the largest area of dragon fruit cultivation in Vietnam with nearly 30,000 hectares. In addition, the locality also has a significant area of land for growing mulberry, tea, macadamia, cashew, durian...
Currently, high-tech agriculture in the province accounts for 40% of the agricultural land area. Accordingly, the agricultural production model in the province is gradually shifting to applying automation, drones, AI and blockchain.
According to Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Investment - Trade and Tourism Promotion, at the program of Exchange, Connection and Cooperation in Tourism Development between Lam Dong and partners from Malaysia in 2025, the application of scientific and technical advances in production in smart farms helps reduce 30% of production costs and increase 25% of productivity.
“Lam Dong is forming a closed value chain, aiming for green agriculture, circular agriculture, meeting export standards to the EU and US markets, with agricultural export revenue estimated at about 2.5 billion USD in 2025,” said Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Yen.
Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen in a meeting with the Central Steering Committee of National Target Programs also said that Lam Dong is the province with the largest cold-water aquaculture output in the country, about 50,000 tons/year. The cold-water aquaculture model is being expanded by households through smart farms.

The province's agricultural economy is also reflected in its powerful fishing fleet, with more than 8,400 fishing vessels. Most of the fishing vessels are modernly invested, applying technical advances, and preserving products well. Data from the functional sector clearly shows that the fishing grounds of about 100,000 km² are bringing in about 5,000 billion VND/year from fishing to the locality.
The province's seafood products, mainly lobster and tuna, are being exported to Japan, continuing to make important contributions to local socio-economic development.
The merger of three ecological regions has opened up a huge space for Lam Dong to develop its agricultural economy in the direction of green growth. Once the transport infrastructure is strongly invested in, many inter-regional connecting routes will be implemented: Tan Phu - Bao Loc, Bao Loc - Lien Khuong, Nha Trang - Lien Khuong, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh, Gia Nghia - Bao Loc - Phan Thiet, along with projects to upgrade and expand national highways 27, 28B, 55 and the dynamic route Gia Nghia - Bao Lam, coastal road project... will be invested and completed, the connection between sea and forest will become more and more convenient. This is the foundation for expanding the agricultural market and attracting investors to Lam Dong.
