The Culture, Sports and Tourism sector of Dong Thap province: Flourishing with many bright colors.

The year 2025 concludes with bright colors on the socio-economic landscape of Dong Thap province, in which the Culture, Sports and Tourism (CST) sector affirms its important role in contributing to the achievement of the province's socio-economic targets.

A mark of identity

Looking back over the past year, the biggest highlight for Dong Thap is its positioning of a tourism brand closely linked to local resources.

According to the summary report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province, the province's tourism revenue in 2025 reached record milestones, proving the correctness of the strategy for developing agricultural tourism and community tourism.

Dong Thap not only attracts tourists with its vast lotus fields, but also with cultural stories subtly told through OCOP products, homestays in Sa Dec Flower Village, Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village, or historical sites such as Go Thap and Xeo Quyt... Diversifying experiential tourism products, linking sightseeing with historical exploration, has helped extend the length of stay and increase spending by tourists.

Specifically, in 2025, Dong Thap welcomed over 7.3 million visitors, exceeding the set plan and increasing by nearly 20% compared to the previous year. Notably, the number of international visitors grew strongly with over 766,000 arrivals, demonstrating the attractiveness of tourism products with strong local characteristics such as: the Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival, the Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village Cultural and Tourism Festival, cultural festivals at the Go Thap and Truong Dinh National Special Historical Sites, and the Thoi Son ecological tourist area...

Tourism revenue reaching 4,158 billion VND is not only an impressive figure, but also a testament to the positive shift in improving service quality and diversifying experiences for tourists.

In the cultural field, 2025 marks a significant milestone in the preservation and promotion of heritage values.

Recently, in his directive speech at the Conference summarizing the work of 2025 and implementing tasks for 2026, Comrade Huynh Minh Tuan, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested that the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector closely adhere to the targets and tasks set forth in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress in order to develop solutions for implementation.

The focus is on reviewing and reorganizing the administrative apparatus, especially at the commune level, in order to promptly implement tasks in the new situation.

Timely advising the Provincial People's Committee on mechanisms and policies for the development of physical education and sports, promoting the development of high-performance sports, and investing in key sports of the province; strengthening state management of press, radio, and television activities, and promoting digital transformation in the operation of grassroots broadcasting...

Traditional festivals are organized on a large scale but still retain their rich customs and traditions, becoming a cultural bridge between the past and the present.

In particular, the skillful integration of heritage preservation with creative economic development has transformed spiritual values into material resources, directly contributing to local development.

Notably, the Tomb of Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Sac has been classified as a Special National Monument, and the Commemoration Ceremony of Commander Duong and Commander Kieu, and the Festival of the Goddess of Go Thap, have been included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, marking important historical milestones.

This demonstrates the province's continuous efforts in preserving cultural identity, creating a solid foundation for developing tourism linked to traditional education for future generations.

In the field of sports, Dong Thap continues to affirm its position as one of the localities with strong development.

High-performance sports brought in 800 national medals and 82 international medals, including the setting of new national records.

Notably, strong sports such as swimming, sepak takraw, and shuttlecock have shone brightly on the national and international stages. This is not only a source of pride in terms of achievements, but also proof of systematic and targeted investment in strong sports.

Simultaneously, the mass sports and physical education movement has spread strongly among all segments of the population, from urban to rural areas.

The successful organization of large-scale marathon races and traditional sports events has not only improved the health of the community but also served as an extremely effective channel for promoting the image of Dong Thap's land and people.

In addition, journalistic and media activities were organized in a rich and timely manner, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and effectively serving political objectives.

Linking cultural heritage with tourism development.

Despite the achievements, objectively speaking, the culture, sports, and tourism sector in Dong Thap still faces a number of "bottlenecks" that need to be addressed in 2026.

One of the biggest limitations is that the transportation infrastructure connecting tourist destinations, although improved, still hasn't kept pace with the rate of development, making it difficult for large groups of tourists to travel.

Although promotional and marketing efforts have undergone many innovations, they are sometimes seasonal and have not truly created effective communication campaigns.

Digital transformation in the fields of culture and sports is still in its early stages, requiring significant investment in both technology and management thinking to truly create a breakthrough.

Entering 2026, in order to maintain growth momentum and overcome existing shortcomings, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province has set out many specific tasks and solutions.

This includes continuing to develop tourism, making it a key economic sector of the province, upgrading the scale and quality of products and services, contributing to building the local image, and becoming one of the attractive destinations in the Mekong Delta region.

In the cultural sector, the focus is on promoting the application of digital technology in the management and dissemination of heritage.

Innovation in the organization of cultural activities, improving the quality of artistic programs, especially large-scale programs with high artistic value.

Strengthening cultural activities at the grassroots level through competitions, performances, festivals, professional training courses, mobile propaganda, art performances, etc., aims to improve the spiritual life of the people, especially in remote areas, border regions, and new rural communes of the province.

For sports, we should continue to pursue a strong path of professionalization and socialization of clubs and leagues.

Investing in school sports and high-performance sports in a sustainable and in-depth manner will create a foundation for Dong Thap to maintain its position.

At the same time, focus on building large-scale annual cultural and sports event series to create highlights and attract the attention of the media and tourists throughout the year...

Regarding tourism development, the focus should be on advising the Provincial People's Committee to invest in synchronous infrastructure, emphasizing tourism promotion and development, effectively exploiting historical and cultural relics, organizing and assigning tasks, establishing a specific operational mechanism, and monitoring to promptly repair, restore, and preserve historical relics, especially those of special national significance.

Furthermore, focusing on training human resources to serve tourism development will create a unique and distinctive cultural identity for the province, spreading throughout society and contributing to the economic, cultural, and social development of the province in the future.
