The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism deploys tasks for 2025

On December 18, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to review 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025 with the theme "Building an advanced culture imbued with national identity - The driving force for development in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise". Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister chaired the conference. Attending at the Quang Ninh province bridge were comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and the Department of Tourism, and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

According to the report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2024, the whole sector thoroughly grasped and promptly implemented the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, closely following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, based on the practical situation, actively and proactively implementing tasks with the theme of the year: "Dedication - Professionalism - Proficiency - Modernity - Solidarity - Discipline - Accelerating to the finish line". The fields of culture, sports and tourism achieved clearer results in terms of awareness, action and results.

The change in awareness and thinking from "doing culture" to "State management of culture" has been increasingly improved and perfected, approaching in depth. The Ministry has focused on reviewing, promoting the amendment, supplementation, and perfecting of specialized legal policies with 20 legal documents; contributing to removing "bottlenecks" and "knots"; initially creating development space.

The year 2024 marks a shift in the cultural industry from policy to practice. The cultural industry is becoming a trend and is identified as an important, sustainable part, contributing to the country's growth. Policy mechanisms related to promoting creativity continue to be improved. The organization of law enforcement on copyright and related rights has made progress.

Vietnamese sports participation in international sports events left many positive impressions, winning a total of 1,214 international medals.

In 2024, international tourists to Vietnam are estimated to reach 17.5 million, up 38.9% over the same period in 2023; domestic tourists are estimated to reach 110 million, up 1.6% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach about VND 840,000 billion, up 23.8% over the same period in 2023.

In Quang Ninh, in 2024, the province's cultural and sports career has received attention and direction from Party committees and authorities at all levels and achieved good results. Cultural and sports institutions from the province to the grassroots have been invested in, increased in quantity, and gradually improved in quality. State management has been strengthened and innovated. Attention has been paid to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritages; the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" and build a civilized lifestyle has been widely implemented and achieved good results. Activities in museums, libraries, cinema, art performances, propaganda and agitation... have improved a lot, and have received attention, investment and support. The mass sports movement has developed strongly, and high-performance sports have achieved good results.

In the tourism sector, Quang Ninh has completed the target of welcoming 19 million visitors, of which international visitors reached more than 3.5 million, with total tourism revenue estimated at VND46,460 billion. The first 9 months of the year are still the focus of welcoming visitors, with 15.6 million visitors. The number of visitors to Quang Ninh in spring and summer contributes to over 80% of the total visitors of the year. Spiritual tourism in spring and sea and island tourism in summer continue to be the main growth drivers for tourism in the province.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the entire Culture, Sports and Tourism sector; contributing to the whole country overcoming difficulties and challenges, completing the set socio-economic development goals.

The Prime Minister requested the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector nationwide to further promote its core role in the cause of "Revitalizing Vietnamese culture in the new era", continuing to effectively implement tasks and solutions to build, preserve and promote the unique values of advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity. The sector needs to focus on solutions to perfect institutions, policies, reform administrative procedures, increase investment attraction and effectively use resources for developing culture, sports and tourism; prioritize investment resources for synchronous infrastructure development to create momentum for tourism development. At the same time, research specific policies and mechanisms for training human resources in the culture sector, training professional arts and sports personnel; build advanced examples, good practices, and typical models to create trends and encourage the development of the culture, sports and tourism sector. The industry needs to mobilize strength from resources to develop culture and cultural industry with focus, key points, and the right direction; constantly innovate thinking and be creative in performing tasks, creating acceleration and breakthroughs for the industry in 2025.
