Improve service quality
For over a year, twice a week, Mr. Blup Phu (46 years old, from Ben Hien commune) has been regularly receiving treatment for kidney disease at the Northern Quang Nam Regional General Hospital. Mr. Blup Phu recounts that due to his financial situation, he drives his motorbike for over two hours from his home to the hospital. Knowing he often travels alone, the doctors and nurses are always attentive and caring. “I feel quite reassured when I get examined here. Without this place, I would have to travel quite far to the city center. In previous years, when we were sick, my relatives and I often went there, but now we almost always get our medical check-ups and treatment here,” Mr. Phu said.
According to the leaders of the Northern Quang Nam Regional General Hospital, a considerable number of patients are residents of the former Dong Giang, Tay Giang, and Nam Giang areas, as well as a small number of people from Laos (bordering Tay Giang), who are transferred for treatment when they are sick or injured.
In line with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025, of the Politburo on caring for and improving the health of the people, Dr. Nguyen Thong Nhat, Director of the Northern Quang Nam Regional General Hospital, stated that the unit continuously improves the professional skills of its medical staff. The hospital currently has 250 doctors and over 600 nurses, and also sends staff for postgraduate training, specialist training (levels 1 and 2), and doctoral training.
To date, the hospital has established specialized training teams for doctors and nurses to provide technical services according to the first-class classification and other specialized classifications as stipulated by the Ministry of Health . As a result, medical examination and treatment services have been improved, affirming the hospital's reputation. In addition, in early May, the hospital put into operation the Infectious Diseases and Tuberculosis Department, the morgue, etc. These facilities are equipped with modern equipment, contributing to reducing the hospital's workload, improving service quality, and meeting patient satisfaction.
At the Son Tra Regional Medical Center, many high-tech services have been implemented right at the grassroots level, such as various types of bone fixation surgery; thyroid surgery; endoscopic digestive surgery... In addition, the center provides CT scanners; Doppler ultrasound of the heart and blood vessels; and other paraclinical tests for cancer screening...
Dr. Ngo Van Dinh Hoai, Director of the Son Tra Regional Medical Center, said that the implementation of many high-tech services right at the grassroots level contributes to reducing pressure on higher-level facilities and helps people benefit from high-tech medical services at the grassroots level, in line with the spirit of Resolution 72. “Our highest goal is to help the excellent policies of the Party and State in Resolution 72-NQ/TW truly come into effect, so that every citizen feels secure and receives the best possible care when seeking medical treatment,” Dr. Hoai said.

Investing in a comprehensive healthcare system.
According to Dr. Tran Thanh Thuy, Director of the Department of Health, after the merger, the construction progress of many medical projects has been accelerated. In April and May, two typical medical projects were handed over: the High-Tech Treatment Area at Quang Nam General Hospital and the Infectious Diseases - Tuberculosis Department, morgue, connecting building, and auxiliary facilities at the Northern Quang Nam Mountain Region General Hospital. As a result, hospitals will have better infrastructure, as well as improved personnel allocation, enhancing treatment capacity and the quality of medical care for the people.
“These two projects not only contribute to completing the infrastructure and ensuring the functionality of the hospitals in line with the development orientation, meeting the healthcare needs of the people, but also help complete the network of medical facilities in the newly merged Da Nang city. More importantly, they are gradually realizing Resolution 72, bringing quality healthcare to the people at the grassroots level, helping people access the nearest and most effective medical services,” shared Dr. Tran Thanh Thuy.
The Director of the Department of Health added that the health sector is advising on policies to develop human resources. Initially, the sector is focusing on developing a plan for the development of healthcare human resources until 2030, as well as policies for human resource development, prioritizing primary healthcare and healthcare in mountainous areas to meet the needs of healthcare for people in these regions.
In addition, focus on improving the professional skills and expertise of doctors, nurses, and medical staff through continuous training, technology transfer from central-level hospitals, and sending them for training at major medical centers both domestically and internationally. Simultaneously, implement policies to attract and adequately reward skilled experts and highly qualified doctors to work in the city; prioritize the rational allocation and deployment of human resources, giving priority to lower-level hospitals and regional medical centers…
