Healthcare sector accelerates digital media transformation, towards the pivotal year of 2026

SKĐS - Speaking at the 2025 Conference on Health Communication, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health Doan Huu Thien emphasized that the health sector needs to innovate the content and methods of communication towards multimedia, digital transformation, and effectively promote the official social networking platforms of the sector as well as the Government.

On November 13, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health held a conference on medical communication work in 2025, orientations and key tasks in 2026. Many presentations on medical communication work were reported to share experiences and orient communication methods suitable for the new context of the industry.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Doan Huu Thien - Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health emphasized the special role of communication in the health sector: "In the context that the health sector continues to implement strategic breakthroughs in the spirit of Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health and the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution 72, the role of communication in health is more important, essential and urgent than ever. Not only is it a tool for transmitting information, but health communication is also a bridge between state management agencies and people, between the health system and the community".

Appreciating the results of health communication in 2025, the Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health said that 2026 is a pivotal year for implementing the Resolutions of the Politburo and the important Action Program of the Government. Therefore, each unit needs to develop a methodical communication plan, closely following the process of policy development and promulgation; each communication officer needs to equip himself with skills and comply with the direction of the Ministry of Health in communication work to contribute to enhancing the position and prestige of the industry and doing a good job of caring for and protecting people's health.

The Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Health suggested that facilities should proactively advise on organizing health policy communication in an in-depth manner, closely following the process of issuing legal documents, ensuring timeliness, transparency and accessibility. Strengthening the connection of health communication networks at all levels, units need to strictly implement the regime of speaking, providing information, and improving the capacity of communication staff.

Besides, it is necessary to innovate the content and methods of communication towards multimedia, digital transformation, and effectively promote the official social networking platforms of the industry as well as the Government.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital presented flowers to the conference reporters.

At the same time, promote inter-sectoral communication coordination among ministries, departments, branches, organizations, localities, and press agencies to expand access and spread medical information.

"Leaders of units in the entire industry need to clearly define their roles and responsibilities, and promote a proactive and creative spirit in implementing medical communications. Every piece of information provided promptly and accurately; every image spread and oriented; every effective communication initiative will contribute to enhancing people's trust in the industry, creating momentum for the comprehensive and modern innovation of the health system," Mr. Doan Huu Thien emphasized.

Also at the conference, the representative of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung - Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Sports, requested that medical communication work in the coming time must focus on orienting, directing propaganda, thoroughly grasping and disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws. In particular, focusing on propagating and educating medical ethics and profession, promoting the movement of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style among cadres and employees in the health sector.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung emphasized that the media also needs to discover, nurture, commend, and promote typical advanced collectives, outstanding individuals, good people and good deeds in the work of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health. Propaganda, introduction, and promotion of achievements and medical advances of the health sector in the cause of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health; contributing to enhancing the position and role of Vietnamese health in the cause of building and developing the country.

At the conference, many presentations on health communication were also reported to share experiences and provide communication methods in health such as: "Tailor-made communication" and guerrilla marketing in health communication; Building a network of KOLs/KMOLs, medical experts in health education communication and methods of combining social resources to cooperate in implementing communication activities; Applying artificial intelligence (AI) in management and organization of health information production; Deploying a health education communication network in the context of 2-level government arrangement in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City...

The sharing helps the medical industry's communication system approach new trends, quickly adapt to digital age communication requirements, and at the same time provide solutions to improve professionalism and communication effectiveness throughout the industry.
