On November 13th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health organized the Conference on Health Communication Work in 2025, outlining key tasks and directions for 2026. Numerous presentations on health communication were given, aiming to share experiences and guide communication methods suitable for the new context of the health sector.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Mr. Doan Huu Thien, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Health, emphasized the special role of communication in the health sector: "In the context of the health sector continuing to implement strategic breakthroughs in accordance with Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health and the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution 72, the role of communication in health is more important, essential, and urgent than ever before. Health communication is not only a tool for transmitting information but also a bridge between state management agencies and the people, between the health system and the community."

Highly appreciating the results of health communication in 2025, the Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Health stated that 2026 is a pivotal year for implementing the Politburo's Resolutions and the Government's important Action Program. Therefore, each unit needs to develop a systematic communication plan, closely following the process of policy development and promulgation; each communication officer needs to equip themselves with skills and comply with the Ministry of Health's directives in communication work to contribute to enhancing the position and prestige of the sector and doing a good job of caring for and protecting the health of the people.
The Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Health suggested that healthcare facilities should proactively advise on and organize health policy communication in an in-depth manner, closely following the process of promulgating legal documents, ensuring timeliness, transparency, and accessibility. Strengthening the health communication network at all levels is crucial, and units need to strictly adhere to the system of public speaking, information provision, and capacity building for communication staff.
In addition, it is necessary to innovate the content and methods of communication towards multimedia, digital transformation, and effectively utilize the official social media platforms of the industry as well as the Government.
Representatives from the Ministry of Health and the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City presented flowers to the conference speakers.
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen inter-sectoral communication coordination among ministries, departments, organizations, localities, and media agencies to expand the reach and dissemination of health information.
"Unit leaders throughout the sector need to clearly define their roles and responsibilities, and maximize their proactive and creative spirit in implementing health communication. Every piece of information provided promptly and accurately; every image disseminated and guided; every effective communication initiative will contribute to enhancing public trust in the sector, creating momentum for the comprehensive and modern reform of the healthcare system," Mr. Doan Huu Thien emphasized.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Sports, representing the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, requested that future health communication efforts focus on guiding and directing the dissemination and understanding of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations. This includes emphasizing the promotion of medical ethics and professional conduct, and strengthening the movement to study and follow the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh among health sector officials and staff.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung emphasized that the media also needs to identify, nurture, commend, and replicate exemplary advanced collectives, outstanding individuals, and good deeds in the work of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health. It should publicize, introduce, and promote the achievements and advancements of the health sector in the cause of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health; contributing to enhancing the position and role of Vietnamese healthcare in the cause of national construction and development.
At the conference, numerous presentations on health communication were also reported, sharing experiences and providing communication methods in healthcare, such as: "Tailored communication" and guerrilla marketing in health communication; Building a network of KOLs/KMOLs who are healthcare experts in health education communication and methods of combining social resources to cooperate in implementing communication activities; Applying artificial intelligence (AI) in the management and organization of health information production; Implementing a health education communication network in the context of the two-tiered government structure in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City…
These insights help the healthcare communication system access new trends, quickly adapt to the communication demands of the digital age, and provide solutions to enhance professionalism and communication effectiveness throughout the industry.
