Attending the event from the Vietnamese side were the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Nguyen Dac Thanh; Commercial Counselor Dang Thi Thanh Phuong; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of Vinafruit Association; Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of Vinafruit Association; and more than 10 Vietnamese fruit and agricultural export businesses.

The German delegation included Mr. Mario Berger, CEO of Selgros Lichtenberg supermarket; Ms. Katharina Wittke, Director for South and Southeast Asia and the Pacific , Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Germany; Mr. Rainer Schubert, Secretary General of the Club of Trade Counselors of German Countries, along with representatives from several German organizations and businesses operating in the fields of consulting and import/export.
In his opening remarks, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Nguyen Dac Thanh, expressed his delight that the event was held close to the traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year – a very significant time for Vietnam not only to promote its famous fruit products but also to spread Vietnamese culture and traditions. The Ambassador highly appreciated the persistent efforts of the Vietnamese Fruit and Vegetable Association in bringing its products to the world's largest fruit fair for many years, demonstrating proactive and deep integration into the global agricultural supply chain, while also strengthening connections with partners in Germany and Europe.
The ambassador further emphasized that directly introducing Vietnamese agricultural exports at Selgros supermarkets is a great opportunity for German consumers to learn more about Vietnamese tropical fruits and for Vietnamese export businesses to directly interact with the supermarket's purchasing department as well as German import businesses.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of Vinafruit, stated that from 2010 to the present, the average growth rate of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry has reached 20% to 25%. Vietnamese fruits and vegetables are exported to more than 80 countries worldwide, with major markets including China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Europe, including Germany. Vietnam is restructuring its agricultural production, prioritizing the application of advanced and modern production processes such as VietGAP and GlobalGAP. He expressed confidence and hope that German consumers will be satisfied with Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products and will continue to support and welcome more Vietnamese produce, contributing to the promotion of German-Vietnamese trade.
Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Phuong, Vietnam's Commercial Counselor in Germany, also expressed her delight at the good growth in Vietnam's agricultural exports to Germany, specifically the export value of fruits and vegetables reaching over US$60.17 million, an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2024. However, she noted that this export value accounts for a very small proportion of Vietnam's exports of similar goods to the world, as well as Germany's imports of this product group. German consumers are familiar with some Vietnamese products such as coffee, seafood, tea, and spices, but many products, especially fresh fruit, are not yet widely available in the German market. The Trade Office representative expressed the hope that through this event, German associations and purchasing businesses will become more aware of and help promote and introduce Vietnamese fruit and agricultural products to German import and distribution partners.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mario Berger, CEO of Selgros Lichtenberg supermarket, said that Selgros distributes many Vietnamese products, most notably seafood, dried goods, spices, including Saigon Baigur Gin and some fresh fruits such as dragon fruit and passion fruit. Recently, the supermarket has expanded its Asian section and Selgros is planning to import Vietnamese ST25 rice and is considering the possibility of adding more Vietnamese agricultural products to its shelves.

At the event, in booths decorated with a strong Vietnamese cultural theme, Vietnamese businesses brought high-quality Vietnamese fruits and agricultural products such as dragon fruit, fresh coconuts, green pomelo, durian, rambutan, ST25 rice, and pho noodles to supermarkets, catering to the tastes of German consumers. Guests and German consumers had the opportunity to tour and sample fresh fruits, tea, and coffee from Vietnam, and expressed their hope that these products would be more widely available in Germany.
This is the third time in less than a year that the Vietnamese Trade Office in Germany has chaired and coordinated activities to promote the export of agricultural products into the German distribution system, contributing to German partners' interest in expanding the range of agricultural products from Vietnam.
