The festival is part of activities to continue implementing Decision No. 1665/QD-TTg dated October 30, 2017 of the Prime Minister on approving the Project "Supporting students to start a business until 2025"

The event was organized with the aim of promoting the participation of universities and generaleducation institutions in career counseling, employment and start-up support for students, while at the same time arousing the spirit of entrepreneurship, the desire to establish oneself and start a business, helping students change their thinking and perception, dare to think, dare to do, creating an environment where learning goes hand in hand with practice in educational institutions.

Here, highly feasible startup ideas and projects of students will also be selected to continue to support, incubate, and promote the establishment of startups; connect startup support units, and promote startups among students.

Important contribution to perfecting the national startup ecosystem

After 6 years of implementation with many practical and effective solutions, the Project “Supporting students to start a business until 2025” has created strong changes in the awareness and actions of the entire education sector. The results of the Project have made an important contribution to perfecting the national startup ecosystem.

100% of universities, academies, colleges, junior colleges and vocational schools have plans to support students in starting a business. 90% of high school students, university and college students are educated, equipped with knowledge and skills about starting a business before graduation. Most localities and training institutions have issued plans to implement tasks on career counseling, employment and supporting students in starting a business according to the provisions of Circular No. 07/2022/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The number of higher education institutions that have made entrepreneurship a compulsory or elective subject has increased from 30% at the end of 2020 to 48% at the end of 2023, with a minimum of 01 credit/subject. 75% of training institutions have organized short-term training activities for students through entrepreneurship skills classes. To date, a network of 200 consultants and startup support staff in training institutions nationwide has been formed.

60% of schools have established startup clubs in priority areas based on the strengths of the training institutions. 110 training institutions have arranged common spaces to support startups for students, an increase of 20 training institutions compared to 2023. About 50 training institutions have established centers to support student startups, an increase of 5 training institutions compared to 2023, of which more than 10 centers carry out incubation of student startups.

By 2023, 9 training institutions had established startup support funds for students, most of which were to support incubation and trial production activities; many businesses accompanied the implementation of the solutions of Project 1665 in the period from 2022-2025.

The number of startup projects is increasing, the quality is getting higher and higher

After 6 years of organization, the "Students with Startup Ideas" Contest has received 1,924 projects from training institutions and more than 1,111 projects from high schools and junior high schools nationwide. 70% of the projects have products and 30% of the projects are ideas or products at the trial production level. The quality of ideas and startup projects is also getting better and better, being more highly appreciated by businesses.

Among the winning projects of the Competition, there were projects that received investment from the State and were put into production in a number of localities. In particular, the entrepreneurial spirit was widely spread throughout the country, including remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas.

Through the Competition, more businesses and investment funds are interested in and connect to invest in feasible startup ideas and projects. After the Competition ends, the projects with high prizes will continue to be incubated to become startups. Feasible projects can be supported by higher education institutions to transfer to the community.

More than 700 startup projects attend the Festival in 2024

The 6th "Students with Startup Ideas" Contest in 2024 was launched in August 2023. After 4 months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 707 entries, an increase of 199 entries compared to the 5th Contest. After the preliminary round, 465 projects met the requirements to participate in the semi-finals. The 80 best projects were selected for the voting round and the final round of the Contest.

The 6th National Student Startup Festival was held at Can Tho University with the main activities: Visiting spaces displaying student startup ideas; Opening and closing programs of the National Student Startup Festival; Forum connecting innovative startup networks of universities and colleges; Forum to inspire startups for students; Final round of the 6th "Students with Startup Ideas" Contest (SV-STARTUP-6); Exchange activities and high-tech demonstrations between delegations attending the Festival.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, this year's startup ideas are of high quality and diverse, with ideas focusing on solving social community problems . The number of junior high school students participating this year has increased compared to previous competitions. The projects of students from training institutions in this competition apply new technologies such as IOT, Big Data and AI. Many projects have been implemented by students and have initially been successful, many projects have been implemented , moved to the profitable stage and revenue and profit indicators have quite impressive growth rates.

The National Student Startup Day (SV_STARTUP) and the “Students with Startup Ideas” Competition provide great opportunities for teams to access investment opportunities as well as practical knowledge and have truly become annual activities attracting the attention of a large number of students nationwide, educational institutions and businesses.
