The 33rd Havana International Book Fair officially opened at La Cabaña Fortress, Cuba, attracting tens of thousands of readers, writers, and poets from all continents. As scheduled, the annual literary festival held at La Cabaña fortress in the capital Havana (or La Habana in Spanish), Cuba, welcomes tens of thousands of readers, writers, and poets from all continents, thereby honoring the reading culture and classic works of famous writers and poets around the world .
With the participation of more than 40 countries and 400 international guests, the 33rd Havana International Book Fair opens from February 13-23, bringing to book lovers more than 2.4 million printed books and 1,200 new literary works in digital format.
Based on Martí's premise "To read is to grow up", this literary event also aims to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the death of Cuban National Hero José Martí, who left behind literary works of great value, considered a compass for Cuba's independent and autonomous ideology.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and many international guests, representatives of the guest country of honor of the International Book Fair of Havana 2025, the Deputy Minister of Sports , Arts and Culture of South Africa, Bertha Peace Mabe, emphasized that culture unites peoples and the book festival contributes to strengthening friendship and amity among peoples around the world.
The annual La Habana International Book Fair has become a meeting place and spiritual food for book lovers around the world; at the same time, it is a space to promote the culture of participating countries to local people and international friends.
