December 13th, SEA Games 33: Martial arts disciplines continue to deliver good news.

In the crucial competition on the afternoon of December 13th, Vietnamese sports received a series of good news from martial arts and athletics.

Specifically, athlete Hoang Thi My Tam kicked off a series of successes on the fourth day of official competition by bringing home the 25th gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation after a convincing victory with an overwhelming score of 11-2 against host opponent Thailand in the final of the kumite under 61kg category.

Continuing its momentum, Karate brought in two more gold medals, raising the total number of gold medals for this sport to three. In particular, Nguyen Thanh Truong brilliantly defeated Indonesian athlete Fadhillah Arif to win the 26th gold medal in the 84kg kumite category.

Not to be outdone by her teammates, Dinh Thi Huong also won 8-5 against her Indonesian opponent in the 68kg kumite final, thereby bringing home the 27th gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.

Also this afternoon, Taekwondo made a significant contribution when Tran Thi Anh Tuyet brought home the 28th gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation after brilliantly defeating her Thai opponent with a final score of 2-1 in the women's over 53 kg and under 57 kg finals, marking the second gold medal for Taekwondo at the 33rd SEA Games.

Besides martial arts, the Vietnamese delegation also won bronze medals in other sports. Specifically, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang won a bronze medal in the women's 48 kg weightlifting category. The duo Vu Thi Trang and Bui Bich Phuong also won a bronze medal in women's doubles badminton after losing 0-2 to the Indonesian pair in the semi-finals.

In Athletics, "queen" of long-distance running Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to demonstrate her prowess by successfully defending her title, finishing first with a time of 16 minutes 27 seconds 13 in the women's 5000m event. Her teammate Le Thi Tuyet won the silver medal in this event.

Notably, in the mixed 4x400m relay, the quartet of Ta Ngoc Tuong and Le Ngoc Phuc (men) and Nguyen Thi Ngoc and Nguyen Thi Hang (women) performed exceptionally well, winning the 30th gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. Throughout the race, the Vietnamese runners maintained the leading position from start to finish, crossing the finish line with a total time of 3 minutes 15 seconds 06, securing the gold medal and breaking the SEA Games record. Thailand won the silver medal, and the Philippines won the bronze.

At the end of the competition day on December 13th, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had won 30 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 53 bronze medals.
