* On the morning of May 21st, at Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery (Dong Loc commune), Nghe An province, a solemn ceremony was held to commemorate and bury 80 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos. These remains, collected during the 2025-2026 dry season, will be returned to their beloved homeland.
* In Vinh Phu ward, Nghe An province, the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the investor, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a housing project for the People's Public Security armed forces. The project includes two 14-story social housing buildings with one basement level, along with a 5-story commercial housing complex. The preliminary total investment for the project is nearly 659 billion VND, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028, with handover and commissioning in the first quarter of 2029.
* Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council – held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Party Committees of 8 communes: Dien Chau, Duc Chau, Quang Chau, Hai Chau, Tan Chau, An Chau, Minh Chau, and Hung Chau, regarding the socio- economic development, Party building, and the operation of the two-level local government.
* On the afternoon of May 21st, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to implement the tasks for the 2026 provincial defense zone exercise. At the conference, the Provincial People's Committee announced the Decision to establish the Organizing Committee, supporting subcommittees, and the Secretariat for the 2026 provincial defense zone exercise. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee consists of 28 members, chaired by Mr. Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with 7 Vice-Chairmen and 20 members.
* On the afternoon of May 21st, Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Working with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of 7 communes: Nghi Loc, Phuc Loc, Dong Loc, Trung Loc, Than Linh, Hai Loc, and Van Kieu on the situation of socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, and the political system.
* The People's Committee of Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation held a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the period 2026-2030. With new development potential in terms of administrative boundaries and large FDI projects, Nghe An province hopes that Vietnam Airlines will work with Nghe An to build a tourism brand that reaches international standards; and soon establish direct flights from Vinh to South Korea, Japan, and China to serve the needs of investors and the people.
* Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) held the opening ceremony for its MB North Nghe An branch at 228 VI Le Nin Avenue, Vinh Phu Ward. The opening of the new branch marks a significant step in MB's development as it expands its network in the North Central region, enhancing its ability to provide comprehensive financial solutions to individuals and businesses in the area.
* Nghe An province imposed fines totaling over 1.1 billion VND for food safety violations during the 2026 Food Safety Action Month. The entire province established 134 inter-agency and specialized inspection teams from the provincial to the commune level. According to reports from the inspection teams, out of a total of 1,545 establishments inspected, 1,220 met the standards (accounting for 89.2%).
