Every year, the Party Committee of Nghia Tam commune issues specialized resolutions, focusing on areas of local strength such as: developing commodity agriculture and forestry, building infrastructure, sustainable poverty reduction, digital transformation, improving the quality of new rural criteria, etc.
Specific, close guidance and grassroots management have created clear changes.
Building a new countryside does not stop at infrastructure but must start with a change in thinking. People are the center of development, the government plays a role in creating effective economic models.
From that orientation, Nghia Tam's concentrated commodity production areas gradually formed and developed in a sustainable direction. On the vast hillsides, the citrus fruit growing area of more than 700 hectares produces about 4,000 tons per year, bringing in a value of tens of billions of VND.
Along with that, the commune has 736 hectares of tea and more than 6,300 hectares of production forest, forming three important economic pillars of the locality.
Many households have boldly applied new techniques, organic production, and converted plant varieties to improve productivity and quality. Some models of production linkage and traceability have been initially implemented, aiming towards safe and transparent agriculture .
Mr. Nguyen Hai Bang in Dat To village shared: “My family has converted the entire area of old, ineffective orange trees to grow lotus tangerines and canh oranges. Thanks to applying the correct techniques, the trees are healthy, the fruit is beautiful and of high quality, and the output is stable.”
The collective economy also asserts its role in developing fruit growing areas in Nghia Tam. The Binh Thuan Fruit Growing and General Services Cooperative is a bright spot.
The cooperative is cultivating more than 70 hectares of oranges according to VietGAP standards, the products achieve 3-star OCOP and are consumed in many large markets. Methodical production and growing area codes help the cooperative's products improve their competitiveness.
Not only promoting the advantages of cultivation, Nghia Tam also promotes the development of a comprehensive economic model in the direction of closed linkage of cultivation - livestock - services. Many households make full use of resources to stabilize the economy and combat market fluctuations.
A typical example is the model of Mr. Pham Van Thuan in Chieng village. From the breeding pig business, he invested in a closed barn, combined with growing cinnamon, tea and fruit trees, bringing in an income of hundreds of millions of dong each year.
Mr. Thuan said: "Developing the economy according to a comprehensive model, the categories support each other, so production is more stable."
Or like the VAC model of Mr. Do Van Loi in An Thai village. Once a poor household, thanks to raising nearly 200 pairs of porcupines, combining pig farming and growing more than 4 hectares of oranges and lemons all year round, each year, the family earns more than 500 million VND.
Mr. Loi shared: "The government supports us, but if we want to escape poverty, we have to make an effort, we cannot wait."
The effectiveness of economic models spread strongly, creating a common driving force for the whole society.
Up to now, Nghia Tam has more than 50 effective economic models, contributing to bringing the average income of people to 48.09 million VND/year - an important foundation for the commune to strive to achieve advanced new rural standards.
Along with production, rural infrastructure in the commune also receives synchronous investment attention. In the period of 2020 - 2025, the commune mobilized more than 130 billion VND for the new rural construction program.
With the active participation of the political system, Nghia Tam people donated over 10,975 square meters of land and thousands of working days to open roads, build cultural houses, lighting systems and essential works.
Currently, 100% of communal and inter-village roads have been concreted; the national electricity grid covers 31/31 villages; schools, medical stations, and cultural houses have been upgraded.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tiem, Re 2 village said: "In the past, it was difficult to travel, and agricultural products were often forced to lower prices by traders. Now the road is good, vehicles can go right to the garden, selling is convenient, and life has changed a lot."
Along with that, poverty reduction work has been vigorously implemented by the locality. Thanks to effective use of credit policies, vocational training and technical support, the poverty rate of Nghia Tam has decreased to 3.93%.
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses was completed ahead of schedule with 29 houses supported for new construction and repair in the 2020 - 2025 period, contributing to improving people's living conditions.
Those comprehensive results affirm the right direction in new rural construction of Nghia Tam.
The commune's goal for the next phase is to achieve advanced new rural standards. Accordingly, the commune continues to restructure the agricultural sector towards sustainable development, improve the quality of human resources and promote the role of the people as the main subject.
With the determination of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, we believe that Nghia Tam will continue to firmly move forward on the journey of building new rural areas, towards a rich, civilized and sustainably developed countryside.
