Mr. Danh Thanh Tri - Vice Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Binh An commune said: "Promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the tradition of loyalty, solidarity, exemplary behavior and innovation, the Association of War Veterans in Binh An commune is determined to build a clean and strong organization. The Association strives to excellently complete its tasks, especially building the image of exemplary war veterans who live with loyalty."
The War Veterans Association of Binh An commune currently has 20 branches with 351 members. Implementing the movement of war veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do good business , the members both develop the economy and actively participate in social activities, preserving comradeship.
The Minh Phong Hamlet Veterans Association is one of the typical examples. The association has 21 members. After reviewing, there is still 1 near-poor member, and some members still have difficult lives. Based on that reality, in 2022, the association established a capital contribution model to help each other develop the economy with 10 members participating, with a total amount of 10 million VND.
Minh Phong Hamlet Veterans Association established a fund to visit members when they are sick, hospitalized or pass away with an amount of 3 million VND. According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Chac - Head of Minh Phong Hamlet Veterans Association, up to now, the model has 13 members participating, with a total contribution of 30 million VND. Each member can borrow 10 million VND without interest, for a period of 6 months; if facing difficulties, it can be extended but not more than 12 months. Since its implementation, 8 members have borrowed and paid back on time. "I keep in mind that as Uncle Ho's soldiers, when I see someone in difficulty, I must extend a helping hand," said Mr. Chac. With that spirit, Mr. Chac and his teammates are always ready to support members in difficult circumstances.
The Minh Phong Hamlet Veterans Association maintains a fund to visit members who are sick, hospitalized, or have family funerals. Initially, there were 7 members participating, each contributing 500,000 VND/year, now it has increased to 10 members. The fund has made 9 visits.
As the person who "inspires" the spirit of supporting comrades of the Minh Phong Hamlet Veterans Association, Mr. Thai Van Hung said that although the number of members and capital is not much, the 3 models currently operating of the association are very meaningful and are respected by members and their families. Mr. Hung said: "Returning to normal life, most of the veterans are old and weak, but the association creates conditions for them to continue participating in suitable activities, promoting the tradition of loyalty, solidarity, exemplary, innovative, living happily, living healthily, living usefully. That contributes to encouraging the spirit and strengthening comradeship."
According to Mr. Danh Thanh Tri, the Association of War Veterans in Binh An commune continues to create all conditions for members to escape poverty and become rich legitimately. The branches of the War Veterans Association take advantage of all resources and attention from the Party Committee, government, unions, organizations and individuals to implement the poverty reduction program, support production and business. The Association of War Veterans supports members to borrow capital entrusted by the Social Policy Bank, increasing outstanding loans by 5-10%/year. Up to now, the total outstanding loans managed by the association is more than 20.9 billion VND, helping to create jobs for 251 idle workers in the locality. The living standards of members have improved significantly. In 3 years, the association has helped 6 households escape poverty and near-poverty. Currently, there is only 1 near-poor household.
The support models for members of the War Veterans Association of Binh An commune not only bring practical economic efficiency but also spread the spirit of mutual love and affection, affirming the prestige and role of the association. From the joint efforts and unanimity, the War Veterans continue to contribute to building new rural areas, developing the socio-economy and cultivating the good values of Uncle Ho's soldiers in their homeland of Binh An.
