In early May 2026, we visited Mrs. Bui Thi Be, 72 years old, in Thanh Long hamlet (Dat Do commune, Ho Chi Minh City). When talking about her new house, still smelling of fresh paint, Mrs. Be's voice was still filled with emotion. For many years, her old house had seriously deteriorated and was unsafe, so she had to live with relatives.
Through a field survey, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dat Do commune mobilized benefactors to support the construction of a solidarity house for Mrs. Be. The new house has an area of over 55 square meters, with a total construction cost of 150 million VND. "Now, in my old age, I no longer have to rely on others for support. I am very grateful for the concern of the local authorities and benefactors," Mrs. Be said emotionally.

The housing support program for disadvantaged households is also being implemented in many other localities throughout the city. In early 2026, Nghia Thanh commune handed over a "Great Solidarity" house to the family of Mr. Tran Quoc Vu, residing in Phu Son hamlet. Mr. and Mrs. Vu are manual laborers, and his wife suffers from a terminal illness requiring long-term treatment. Previously, the entire family lived in a dilapidated temporary house of about 27 square meters. Thanks to support from the "For the Poor" fund, along with the joint efforts of the local government and philanthropists, Mr. Vu's family now has a new house.
In the process of implementing social welfare policies at the grassroots level, effective "People's Mobilization" models are gradually demonstrating practical results, contributing to caring for the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. For example, in Hai Phuc hamlet, in April 2026, a model was implemented to mobilize support to cover 50% of the cost of purchasing health insurance cards for people in difficult circumstances.
This has helped many families reduce the financial burden of medical examinations and treatment. Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phuc hamlet Party branch, said that the model not only helps people access medical services but also contributes to raising awareness about the role and significance of health insurance in life.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phuoc Hai commune, shared that improving the quality of activities of the Front's working committees and mass organizations at the grassroots level is crucial in strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State. Many models have contributed to bringing policies closer to the people, especially those facing difficult circumstances in life.

Recalling the last days of November 2025, when people in the central provinces were struggling against the devastating floods, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front called for contributions and support to help flood victims overcome difficulties. Very quickly, millions of people in Ho Chi Minh City joined hands to contribute, hundreds of collection points were opened to receive goods and necessities, and hundreds of trucks carrying thousands of tons of goods promptly delivered them to the flood-affected areas.
Furthermore, when the northern and central provinces were affected by storms and floods, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City quickly channeled the generosity and compassion of the people of Ho Chi Minh City to support these localities. As a result, hundreds of houses were rebuilt and schools were renovated. The results demonstrate that when people face difficulties, the Fatherland Front is a gathering place for goodwill; when other places suffer, the Fatherland Front is the source of sharing, connecting trust, and the voice of solidarity.
Along with immediate support activities, the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee has also implemented many long-term initiatives to care for the people, such as the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, which has been widely launched for over 25 years. In the first few months of 2026 alone, the city spent over 50 billion VND to build and repair 94 "Great Solidarity" houses, donated nearly 40,000 Tet gifts and 1,562 health insurance cards. The "City of Compassion" movement mobilized over 458 billion VND, 4,894 tons of goods, and 19,000 bags of medicine, expanding its collection to 168 communes and wards and 18 collection points.
Over the years, the movement focused on the homeland's borders and islands, and the "For a Green Truong Sa" program, have mobilized and organized support totaling over 550 billion VND, building more than 1,000 houses, border shelters, combat readiness training facilities, multi-purpose cultural centers, sailor's living quarters, flagpoles, solar-powered lights, clinics, etc.
At the same time, more than 300 medical support teams were deployed; 20 freshwater projects were built, 50 water filters were installed, and more than 3,000 livelihood resources were provided to people in border and island areas...
