The meeting was held on November 11 with the participation of representatives of agencies and functional units under the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

At the conference, the Head of the Committee and delegates listened to representatives of agencies and units that are members of the Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense on IUU reporting on the review and assessment of the implementation of anti-IUU fishing in the recent past and the implementation direction from now until November 30, 2025.

Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on Combating IUU Fishing, chaired the meeting.

Accordingly, over the past time, the functional forces under the Ministry of National Defense have synchronously and resolutely deployed the assigned tasks under the direction of the Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of National Defense and the head of the General Staff - Head of the IUU Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense. Organizing a working group to inspect the implementation of the task of combating IUU fishing at the Border Guard of An Giang province and Coast Guard Region 4.

At the same time, the Department of Operations, Border Guard Command, and Vietnam Coast Guard sent officers to join the working group of the National Steering Committee on IUU, chaired by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , to inspect and combat IUU fishing in Thanh Hoa province. The Ministry of National Defense continues to maintain 46 ships on duty in the sea areas and uses 3 other fleets to patrol and control against IUU fishing 24/24 hours in adjacent sea areas...

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao praised the results and efforts of officers and soldiers of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense in carrying out the task of combating IUU fishing. In order to implement the determination to remove the yellow card for seafood exports that the European Commission (EC) is applying to Vietnamese seafood in November 2025, the Head of the IUU Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense requested the functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff to study and advise superiors to approve the plan to use military aircraft to carry out patrol and control tasks of fishing vessels in the coming time; at the same time, continue to study and increase the number of patrol and patrol ships to improve the effectiveness of control at sea.

Along with that, the Head of the IUU Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense also requested the functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense to continue to research and review the arrangement of forces on duty at sea in the most reasonable and effective way. For the Border Guard force, the Head of the IUU Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense requested the force to continue to coordinate with the local authorities and functional forces to strictly control ships entering and leaving ports in the area; improve the efficiency of using the fishing vessel data management software newly provided by Viettel Group, in order to improve the efficiency of managing fishing vessels at ports as well as when operating at sea.
