According to the reporter's records in Tan Loc commune, where National Highway 63 passes through about 12 km, there are many potholes, narrow roads, and some places are less than 6m wide. According to many people in Tan Loc commune, this is an important traffic route for transporting agricultural products. However, due to being put into operation for a long time, combined with a large traffic volume, it has deteriorated and traffic jams occur during rush hours.
Mr. Nguyen Van Uyen of Tan Loc commune said that when the rainy season comes, the road surface is often submerged in water, causing the "potholes" to appear larger and larger. Recently, the functional sector has carried out maintenance and repairs, but not uniformly, mainly by laying hot asphalt in sections or using crushed stone to patch the "potholes" so that people can travel. Mr. Nguyen Van Uyen also recommended that the functional sector soon have solutions to upgrade the entire route, especially widening the road surface to make it easier for vehicles to travel.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan in Tri Phai commune said that the road is narrow and degraded, however every night many large trucks moving to transport construction materials for projects, trucks carrying agricultural products, etc. often pass by, causing increasingly serious damage. Mr. Nguyen Van Toan hopes that the local government as well as the functional sector will soon make recommendations to higher levels or have solutions to invest in expanding National Highway 63 to help people stay safe when participating in traffic, ensuring that people's transportation and trading of goods is more convenient.
Ms. Tran Thi Hang, Vice Chairman of Tri Phai Commune People's Committee, said that National Highway 63, which runs through the area for about 14 km (from Dau Nai culvert to the center of Tri Phai commune), has been upgraded with hot asphalt paving for 3 sections of more than 3 km. However, there are still some sections that have not been upgraded and are quite damaged. Local people have repeatedly requested to upgrade the remaining section and expand the road. The local government has taken note and reported to the competent authorities to find solutions to implement soon in the near future.
Also according to information from the leader of Tan Loc Commune People's Committee, the Vietnam Road Administration has implemented the project to upgrade National Highway 63 through Ca Mau province, which started in June 2025 and will be completed in October 2025 with a budget of about 18 billion VND, mainly hot asphalt paving in some degraded sections. However, up to now, some other locations that have not been upgraded on the route are also deteriorating, and people have also reported to the local authorities about the difficulty of traveling, transporting and trading goods and the potential risks of traffic safety.
Local people are expecting the authorities to soon have a more fundamental solution to upgrade and expand National Highway 63 to facilitate traffic, reduce traffic accident risks and serve the socio -economic development of Ca Mau province in general and Tri Phai and Tan Loc communes in particular.
