On November 25, information from Ha Tinh General Hospital said that thanks to the rapid treatment process and application of modern techniques, the hospital's doctors saved the life of a patient who had stopped breathing for 30 minutes due to an acute myocardial infarction.
Previously, on November 22, the emergency department of Ha Tinh General Hospital received patient NHĐ. (42 years old, residing in Pleiku ward, Gia Lai province) with symptoms of chest tightness and difficulty breathing. After being admitted to the hospital for 3 minutes, the patient lost consciousness, turned purple and was determined by doctors to have cardiac arrest.
Emergency medicine and anti-poison doctors coordinated with the cardiology department to perform cardiac arrest according to protocols such as cardiac compression, electric shock, and endotracheal intubation.
After 30 minutes of emergency efforts, Mr. D.'s heartbeat returned. Doctors diagnosed him with acute myocardial infarction complicated by arrhythmia and respiratory arrest.
Immediately after his pulse and blood pressure stabilized, he was assigned to have angiography and emergency coronary intervention.
The scan results showed that the blood clot completely blocked the right coronary artery. The patient underwent intervention to remove a large amount of blood clot and had two stents placed at the blockage site.
After intervention, coronary artery flow was re-established and the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit for further treatment.
After 3 days of intensive treatment, the patient was weaned off vasopressors, had the endotracheal tube removed, and was transferred to the cardiology department for further treatment and is expected to be discharged in the next few days.
Doctor Le Chi Huong - Deputy Head of Cardiology Department, Ha Tinh General Hospital, said that the case of patient D. being saved was very lucky due to many factors.
Accordingly, when the patient had chest pain and difficulty breathing, he went to the doctor immediately; the patient had cardiac arrest at the emergency department and received timely CPR; the patient had coronary angiography and rapid intervention to save his life.
