In Cau Pha commune, dozens of hectares of vegetables were flooded. The average cost of damage per sao of vegetables was up to 40-50 million VND.
In Ho Tram commune, many aquaculture households lost everything due to flooded ponds. In just one night, the water swept away all the fish ponds of Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh's family, which they planned to harvest for sale at the end of the year. More than 2 tons of catfish, perch and snakehead fish were swept away with the water, causing a loss of more than 120 million VND. Hundreds of hectares of newly sown rice of farmers were also deeply flooded.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City is directing localities to review the situation, count the damage to compile a report. It is forecasted that in the coming days, the city will continue to have prolonged rains, so the functional sector recommends that farmers proactively develop plans to prevent and combat natural disasters to limit possible damage.
