Ha TinhPicking up 100 million VND that fell from the roof of a car running on the road, people paid it to the person who lost it when the police came to the house to campaign.
The police of Thach Dai commune, Thach Ha district, said they had just returned the above amount to Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, 54 years old, residing in Nam Binh village.
On the morning of March 21, Mr. Thong prepared more than 3 million VND in cash to go to the bank in Ha Tinh City to "reverse the book" at maturity. He put banknotes in denominations of 300 - 100.000 VND in nylon bags and placed them on the roof of the car parked in front of his house for counting.
While putting money in the seat compartment, Mr. Thong had to go back inside, so he forgot the nylon bag containing 10 piles of 100.000 VND notes on the roof of the car. A few minutes later, he returned and drove to the bank.
When the car drove to the overpass in Thach Dai commune, the nylon bag containing money fell onto the road and was blown away by the wind. Many people move here to pick up this money to take home.
Mr. Thong went to the bank to discover that the bag of money on the roof of the car was missing. Searching around the area he had just passed and not finding anything, he reported it to the authorities.
Captain Pham Duy Triet, Head of Thach Dai Commune Police, said he had sent officers to coordinate with the commune and neighboring ward police to review. After more than three hours, the police determined that some people in Luu Vinh Son commune picked up the above money.
“When we came to campaign, people happily gave back. They explained that they didn't know whose money it was, so they kept it and didn't dare spend it. If the police didn't come, they would report it to the authorities," Captain Triet said.
