Locals release fish in the area along the Red River, about 2km from Chuong Duong Bridge.
On February 10th (the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month), people in Hanoi flock to rivers and lakes to release fish, bidding farewell to the Kitchen God and the Stove God as they ascend to heaven, according to traditional customs.

Besides using red carp, many people also buy larger, regular carp with the belief that the bigger the fish, the more luck and fortune it brings.

At the Thanh Xuan Park regulating lake, Ms. Hoang Thi Lan (a fish vendor at Nhan Chinh market) was releasing fish while recording a video as proof to send to customers.

She said that at around 11 am, a customer came to the counter and bought all 8 kg of red carp for nearly 1.5 million VND and asked her to release them into the water.

Mr. Thang (from Thanh Xuan ward) also brought a large container of carp to release into the regulating lake.

He recounted that he had just gone to the market, chosen a small stall, and bought all the fish he could find, including carp, catfish, and goldfish, to release into the wild, totaling over 1 million dong. Among them were many large carp.

Also in the retention pond area, the park management spread tarpaulins on the embankment so that people could sit on the shore and release fish into the water, avoiding slipping.

The red carp slid down the tarp into the water.
Besides releasing carp, many people also go to the riverbank to empty incense sticks and ashes after performing the ritual of cleaning the incense burner.

At West Lake, authorities have set up checkpoints along Trích Sài Street, Nguyễn Đình Thị Street, and other areas to educate and guide people on releasing all the fish into a large container, then collecting them all and taking them to the Red River for release.
