Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep (54 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) is a renowned record holder with some of the most unique collections in Vietnam. Mr. Hiep currently holds 7 Vietnamese records, including the record for the largest collection of old newspapers.

Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep stated that collecting and preserving old Lunar New Year newspapers is not just about personal preference. Each Lunar New Year newspaper is a cultural witness of its time. Lunar New Year newspapers are not simply special publications for Tet (Lunar New Year), but also a convergence point of journalistic excellence, fine arts, literature, and the social spirit of each historical period.

"For me, preserving these Lunar New Year newspaper editions is about preserving community memories. In the context of rapidly developing digital media and information changing every hour, these old Lunar New Year newspapers become even more valuable as living documents – helping the younger generation better understand the development journey of Vietnamese journalism and the cultural identity of Vietnamese Tet through different periods," Mr. Hiep added.

Besides collecting Lunar New Year newspapers, Mr. Hiep also collects many items that evoke memories of Tet in the old days.

In Mr. Hiep's collection, there are many New Year's greeting cards that were used by people in Saigon in the past.

Mr. Hiep carefully preserves the calendar featuring 'Truong Muc Tiet Kiem - God of Wealth and Righteousness'.

Mr. Hiep's café on D5 Street (Thanh My Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) is not just a business but also a miniature museum, where visitors can admire and immerse themselves in the memories of old Saigon. Mr. Hiep has divided the café into several display areas, such as an antique coin section, a photo studio, and a book collection. Notably, he dedicates a significant amount of space and concentrates valuable artifacts in the living room. For Mr. Hiep, the café is not just a business but also an open space where locals and tourists can learn more about old Saigon.

During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, many tourists visited Mr. Hiep's cafe to take photos with the artifacts from old Saigon.
