The teaching staff – the core foundation
As education enters a period of profound transformation with the demands of integration, innovation, and digital transformation, the image of the teacher in the socialist school model is increasingly placed at the center. This is not just about teaching literacy, but also about preserving educational ideals, guiding character development, and inspiring a beautiful life for students.
On May 11th, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City approved the Project on Building Socialist Schools – a milestone demonstrating the city's determination to comprehensively reform education in the new phase. In this project, developing the teaching staff and education management personnel is identified as one of the key, fundamental tasks.

The project's goal goes beyond simply standardizing professional qualifications; it aims to build a team of educators who are both politically sound and professionally competent – possessing strong political convictions, moral character, a sense of responsibility, innovative capabilities, and a desire to contribute. Teachers in socialist schools must truly become role models of character, lifelong learning mindset, and a spirit of community service.
Amidst the transformation of Hai Phong's education system in the digital age, the role of teachers is no longer confined to lectures or the blackboard. Today's teachers must know how to apply technology, innovate teaching methods, and at the same time be sensitive enough to listen to and understand students' psychology in the face of the rapid changes of modern society.
According to Ms. Dao Thi Nhung, Deputy Principal of Le Hong Phong Primary School in Phu Lien Ward, the school's teaching staff basically meets the requirements in terms of moral character, sense of responsibility, and love for the profession. The teachers are always dedicated to their students, actively innovate teaching methods, proactively participate in emulation movements, and constantly engage in self-study to improve their professional skills.
However, along with the increasing demands of modern education, teachers also face many new pressures and challenges. A segment of teachers still have limited digital skills and are not yet truly proficient in applying artificial intelligence and technology to lesson design, organizing interactive learning activities, or personalizing learning for students.
Furthermore, some teachers are still struggling with the rapid changes in children's behavior in the digital environment, particularly in terms of emotional education, psychological counseling, and student behavior management. The constant pressure to innovate and the heavy workload also sometimes lead to teachers feeling overwhelmed.
Facing this reality head-on, Le Hong Phong Primary School has identified three key groups of solutions to build the image of teachers within the socialist school model.
This involves innovating professional development activities towards lesson study, encouraging teachers to share experiences and address practical difficulties; strengthening digital skills through training courses and a "pairing" model between young, tech-savvy teachers and experienced teachers; and building a culture of sharing within schools, enhancing cooperation with parents to create a supportive educational environment and reduce pressure on teachers.
"We believe that with the determination of the teaching staff, the support of parents, and the self-learning spirit of each teacher, the school's teaching staff will become increasingly better, meeting the requirements of the socialist school model in the new phase," Ms. Nhung shared.

Sharing the same viewpoint, Ms. Dong Thi Hoa, Principal of Nam Ha Secondary School in Kien An Ward, believes that the teaching staff is the core force that determines the success of the socialist school model.
According to Ms. Hoa, the school aims for 100% of its teachers to have a university degree or higher, possess strong political qualities, good professional ethics, high responsibility, and a pioneering spirit of innovation. Alongside professional development, teachers are also receiving enhanced training in digital technology skills, AI applications, and modern teaching platforms to improve educational effectiveness.
"Throughout history, teachers have always been highly respected by society not only for teaching literacy but also for teaching moral values. In modern society, teachers must be ideal role models, guides in knowledge and character for their students," Ms. Hoa emphasized.
People who "build souls" with knowledge, love, and faith.
In the journey of building socialist schools, what gives life to education is not just modern facilities or smart technology, but the teachers who are silently "building souls" day after day.
Having dedicated over 10 years to teaching, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen, head of the 5th grade at Le Hong Phong Primary School, has always been conscious of the need for self-learning and self-improvement to meet the demands of modern education.
Beyond her expertise in elementary education, she also completed a master's degree in computer science and became one of the school's pioneering teachers in digital transformation. In each lesson, she brings technology closer to her students through interactive games, online learning software, and engaging experiential activities.
Lessons are no longer dry and one-way lectures, but have become a space for students to actively explore knowledge. They participate in online games, complete exercises through digital software, search for information themselves, and present their own ideas.
Beyond simply innovating her classroom, Ms. Luyen also regularly participates in IT training courses, collaborating with colleagues to enhance their digital skills.
"Teachers in socialist schools must be shining examples of morality, a spirit of learning, creativity, and responsibility in their work for students to emulate," Ms. Luyen shared.

While Ms. Luyen inspires with her innovative approach, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, a math teacher at Nam Ha Secondary School, leaves his mark with his approachability and ability to win over students with love and compassion.
In his math lessons, Mr. Vinh rarely begins with dry formulas. Instead, he uses fun riddles, brain-teasing games, or real-life scenarios. One day, the whole class had a lively debate about calculating the percentage discount when buying something online. Another time, students enthusiastically participated in solving math problems live on Quizizz or Kahoot using their phones.
What might seem like dry, abstract concepts are brought to life by the teacher using 3D models, GeoGebra software, and visual videos. Geometry is no longer just emotionless straight lines but is connected to measuring classroom area, calculating tree height using shadows, or designing a model of a bedroom.
According to Mr. Vinh, what students fear is not math itself, but the feeling of failure and the pressure of grades. Therefore, to make students love learning, we must first help them believe that they are capable of learning.
In addition to his professional expertise, Mr. Vinh is also a highly experienced homeroom teacher. He firmly believes that education is not about controlling students, but about helping them discover their own self-worth.
The most memorable experience for the teacher was the story of a 7th-grade male student who frequently violated school rules, got into fights, and stole from his classmates. After one serious altercation, instead of reprimanding him in front of the class or applying harsh disciplinary measures, the teacher chose to have a private conversation with him.
Through listening to the student, the teacher understood that the student lacked family attention, which made him stubborn and easily angered. Based on this understanding, the teacher decided to apply a positive educational approach instead of just punishment.
My teacher assigned me tasks such as supporting the class, managing learning equipment, and participating in group activities so that I would feel trusted and useful. At the same time, he guided me in using Canva and CapCut to design posters and create promotional videos for the class.
From a student who frequently misbehaved, she gradually changed for the better: she learned to admit her mistakes, became more sociable with her friends, and developed her creative talents. Her video project was praised by the whole class, boosting her confidence.
"I still remember the look in her eyes that day. It was the look of a child who had just realized she was useful for the first time," Mr. Vinh recounted emotionally.
After one semester, the student stopped fighting, attended school more regularly, and even won an honorable mention in the school's video design competition promoting school safety.
This story shows that, in a socialist school, the teacher not only imparts knowledge but also ignites faith and awakens the good in each student.
A modern school is not only measured by smart classrooms or advanced technology, but also by how teachers treat their students with tolerance, respect, and trust.
Because sometimes, what helps a student change isn't a reprimand or harsh punishment, but simply having someone who believes they can become better.
