Promote sportsmanship
Present at the iSchool Quang Tri swimming pool one afternoon, we felt the joy of Mr. Thanh and his students immersing themselves in the cool water. In addition to helping the children perfect and improve their swimming skills, he also devoted himself to finding “young talents” to compete in school swimming competitions. Over the past three years, the iSchool Quang Tri Swimming Club managed by Mr. Thanh has created an ideal environment for children to practice and improve their health.
“I was born in Duong Dai Thuan village, Trieu Binh commune, Quang Tri province. My parents worked as fishermen on the Thach Han river, so my childhood was attached to the river and the water. When I followed my parents to work, I was taught how to swim and practiced different swimming styles to become more confident in the water environment,” Thanh said.
In grade 4, Pham Chi Thanh was called to join the swimming team of Trieu Thuan Primary School. Participating in school swimming competitions in Trieu Phong district (old) and achieving many impressive results, Thanh began to nurture the dream of becoming a teacher or swimming coach. To realize his dream, he worked hard and actively participated in grassroots sports competitions related to the "green race" such as swimming and traditional boat racing.
In 2007, Mr. Thanh passed the entrance exam to the swimming coach major at the University of Physical Education and Sports in Da Nang . After graduating from university, Mr. Thanh taught swimming at Trung Vuong School (Nam Dong Ha Ward). Here, he actively contributed to the development of the swimming movement and the building of the school's swimming team.
During his 11 years working at Trung Vuong School, Mr. Thanh has accumulated a lot of experience to improve his professional qualifications, especially in building and developing swimming in schools. During the conversation, we clearly felt his passion for popularizing swimming to many people. During the summer vacation, he often supports children in the countryside and adults who need to practice proper swimming techniques and first aid skills when someone is drowning.
In the past 3 years, Mr. Thanh has changed jobs and continues to be a core teacher in developing swimming at iSchool Quang Tri. “When I returned to teach at iSchool Quang Tri, I proposed and was approved by the school board to establish the iSchool Quang Tri Swimming Club and invest in modern, standard facilities and equipment for teaching, practicing and competing in swimming.
Up to now, thanks to the best conditions, swimming at iSchool Quang Tri is developing well and establishing a position in Quang Tri school sports", Mr. Thanh shared. Currently, iSchool Quang Tri Swimming Club has more than 20 students participating regularly 3 sessions/week. The development of the swimming club has created a solid foundation for this teacher to build the iSchool Quang Tri swimming team with the goal of making a name for himself on the "green racetrack" of Quang Tri schools.
Principal of iSchool Quang Tri Duong Thi Thu Trang said: “Mr. Pham Chi Thanh is a teacher who is good at his profession, dedicated to his work, and has many positive solutions and initiatives to improve the quality of teaching. As the Head of the Talent Group, he has creatively directed the activities of the professional group, making the group's activities a highlight of educational quality in an international integration environment. Mr. Thanh is also an exemplary party member, a shining example of dedication in all common activities of the unit. In recognition of these efforts, he has been awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level many times by the Department of Education and Training, honored by the School Board of Directors and commended by the iSchool Vietnam International Integration Education System as an Outstanding Teacher”. |
Many positive contributions
In the process of nurturing young swimming talents, Coach Chi Thanh always focuses on innovating teaching methods and spreading positive energy to the children, especially the confidence and fearlessness of water; encouraging and motivating students to practice swimming to have both skills in the water environment and good health and fitness.
For students who are already good swimmers, Mr. Thanh focuses on perfecting advanced swimming techniques, practicing regularly at least 3-4 sessions/week, swimming short distances and then gradually increasing to long distances. Along with that, he guides them enthusiastically, imparting to them the experience of maintaining confidence and courage in the water environment. Thanks to that, his students progress quickly, have high determination and compete with good results.
After 3 years of working at iSchool Quang Tri, Mr. Thanh has built a swimming movement that has developed widely throughout the school, attracting a large number of students to participate. This young coach has also affirmed his talent in coaching and building a swimming team to compete with high results, notably in the 2022-2023 school year, iSchool Quang Tri won 2 Gold Medals (HCV), 10 Silver Medals (HCB), 2 Bronze Medals (HCĐ) at the Quang Tri Provincial School Swimming Competition; participating in swimming, the 2024 Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival won 3 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals.
From this achievement, the school has 3 athletes called to the Provincial Swimming Team to participate in the National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024, of which 2 athletes won 2 bronze medals and were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. This success proves the efforts and dedication of Coach Chi Thanh. With his positive contributions, he has been recognized by all levels and sectors with many certificates of merit and titles, and is loved by parents and students.
“In the coming time, I will focus on developing the iSchool Quang Tri Swimming Club to attract more children to practice; continue to improve my skills, participate in training courses to find suitable exercises, and create a more professional teaching environment. From there, build the Club into a common home not only for practice but also a place to connect, share passion for sports and support each other to improve,” said Mr. Thanh.
