Prestigious people join forces to recruit soldiers in Buon Don

The border commune of Buon Don, home to 15 ethnic groups, always meets its annual military recruitment target thanks to the strong bridging role of prestigious people in the community.

Their passionate voices have turned civic responsibility into the voluntary will of the young generation to go forth to defend the Fatherland.

Buon Don is the commune with the largest area in the country, up to 111,379 hectares, with a total of 1,793 households and 6,654 people. The area is large and the population is diverse, requiring the propaganda and mobilization work to be truly in-depth and understanding.

In this important task, local prestigious people always play an important role. They are not only exemplary role models in local movements but also psychological “experts” in mobilizing young people to join the army.

Prestigious people join with the leaders of the Commune Military Command to propagate and encourage young people to fulfill their military service well.

A typical example is Mr. Bien Van Lac, a prestigious person in Ea Rong B village. With his prestige and experience, he has spread the sacred responsibility of citizens and the opportunity to comprehensively train and mature in the military environment. He shared: "We have to have different ways of propaganda depending on the target audience. First, we talk to the parents, create consensus , then talk to the children of military age. Speak gently, reasonably and emotionally so that the children understand the rights and obligations of citizens in properly implementing the Law on Military Service and are eager to join the army."

Mr. Bien Van Lac exchanged and shared information about the village situation with representatives of the Military Command of Buon Don commune.

Similarly, Mr. Y Thong Kđoh (village elder, a prestigious person in Tri village) also pays special attention to and encourages young people to strictly implement the Law on Military Service. He does not wait for the military recruitment season, but whenever he has time, he talks to and encourages his children of military age to join and fulfill their duties as citizens to the Fatherland.

By being close to the people, village elder Y Thong Kdoh has contributed to educating many generations of youth in the village about revolutionary traditions, national pride and self-respect, and the spirit of readiness to set out to carry out the task of protecting the Fatherland.

The dedication of the "fire-bearers" has created a strong ripple effect, arousing the spirit of vanguard in the young generation of Buon Don.

91/91 young men in the list have participated in the military service health examination.

Bun Lyna Lao (born 2001, Lao ethnic group, Tri village) is the second child in a family of four siblings. Bun Lyna Lao used to study at a university but decided to temporarily put it aside to join the army. He expressed: "I volunteered to join the army because I wanted to serve in the army for a long time. My family is very supportive of this wish. I hope that participating in the military service will help me become more mature and thoughtful in my thinking and life."

Or like Si Than Lao (born 2006, Lao ethnic group, Ea Rong B village) also wrote a volunteer application to join the army. Si Than Lao confided: "I want to experience a new environment, want to live in the spirit of comradeship. As a young person of the village, I hope to contribute a little effort to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland."

According to Mr. Hoang Minh Hao, Commander of the Military Command of Buon Don commune, in preparation for the 2026 military recruitment season, 91/91 young men in the commune have participated in the military service health examination.

Among them, many young people have written applications to volunteer for military service. These volunteer applications not only show the pioneering spirit of Buon Don youth but also reflect the consensus and support of the whole family and community.

The voice of prestigious people has truly inspired, helping the young generation in border areas clearly understand and be proud of their responsibility to the Fatherland.

Vice Chairman of Buon Don Commune People's Committee Le Thanh Son affirmed: "Prestigious people, village elders, and village chiefs in the commune play an important role in building the people's lifestyle, especially in ethnic minority areas. With their prestige, they not only contribute to completing the annual military recruitment target, but also strengthen trust and raise awareness for each citizen in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities to their homeland and the Fatherland."
