Nguyen Duyen Quynh was the first singer to perform "Continuing the Story of Peace" by composer Nguyen Van Chung. And after the "craze" of that "billion-view" song, the female singer also celebrated a special Tet holiday.

She is not the "muse" of musician Nguyen Van Chung.

* When "Continuing the Story of Peace" transcended the boundaries of a typical song to become a widespread social phenomenon recently, as the first singer to perform the song, how did you feel?

- Singer Nguyen Duyen Quynh : Quynh feels incredibly happy that what she had always wished for and dreamed of for the song has now come true. This is something Quynh couldn't have achieved alone, but thanks to the shared efforts of fellow artists, colleagues, and most importantly, the patriotism of the Vietnamese people, which has made this song a success today. Therefore, Quynh always expresses her gratitude for the love and support everyone has given to the song.

* After the "craze" of this song with billions of views, how have your life and career changed? What is the biggest change that you have noticed most clearly?

- Quỳnh has experienced quite a few changes after the success of this song: her career has progressed, her life is more stable, allowing her to take better care of her family. And what makes Quỳnh happiest is that every time she appears, the audience remembers her more. Quỳnh thinks this is not only her dream but also the dream of all artists.

* When audiences remember you first through a song with a strong sense of community, you receive that with pride, but surely also with some unspoken pressure?

- That's absolutely true, because everyone in life wants to achieve something for themselves, and this song, as well as the album of the same name, has helped Quynh make a huge impression on music lovers. At the same time, Quynh also faces pressure from being compared to others, which is unavoidable for an artist. But what Quynh chooses is to remain steadfast on her musical journey and improve herself every day, always maintaining her own space so she can continue to create and produce more meaningful community projects.

* Have you ever worried about being typecast as the singer of " Continuing the Story of Peace " ? If so, what steps are you taking to avoid repeating yourself?

- "Continuing the Story of Peace" is one of many songs about homeland and country included in Quynh's musical project and direction. From the very beginning, Quynh knew this would be an extremely difficult journey requiring patience. And, achieving the success she has today is beyond her wildest imagination, so she remains confident in the path she has chosen. Furthermore, to give audiences more enjoyable experiences with patriotic music, what Quynh is constantly striving for and exploring every day is how to make each subsequent product bear its own unique mark.

* After the song was widely used in various events and settings, how do you view the boundary between positive dissemination and the feeling of being overly scrutinized by those involved?

- Quỳnh thinks that being overly scrutinized is perfectly understandable for an artist because audiences always want to know more about the lives and stories of the artists they care about. And sometimes, these distorted stories can unintentionally lead listeners to understand them in a different way, but looking at the positive side, this attention is an opportunity for the artist to assert themselves.

Before the Lunar New Year's Eve of the Year of the Horse 2026, Nguyen Duyen Quynh will embark on a European tour to perform for Vietnamese expatriates.

* Considered the "muse" closely associated with musician Nguyen Van Chung, how should this term be correctly interpreted in light of their professional relationship?

- Quynh is not the "muse" of composer Nguyen Van Chung, but simply one of many young singers he supports in their music, and Quynh always considers him one of her mentors. The reason people often see Quynh and the composer together or collaborating frequently on musical projects is simply because they share a common goal: to contribute to the community and spread positive things in life. Looking more broadly, it's easy to see that the songs and projects Quynh has been fortunate enough to work on with the composer are mostly about family, homeland, and social issues… there are very few songs about romantic love.

* When rumors of a romantic relationship arose surrounding that close relationship, what boundaries did you set for yourself between your private life and work to avoid being swept away by public opinion?

- Quynh has always handled work in a way that keeps personal and professional matters separate, so rumors usually don't affect her work and collaborations with artists, especially with musician Nguyen Van Chung. Sometimes, when we see a headline, both of us just laugh it off and continue with our work. Every journey has its difficulties and challenges; the important thing is whether you dare to face and overcome them.

* During your time working with musician Nguyen Van Chung, what was the most important lesson you learned that helped you grow professionally?

- Quynh has collaborated with musician Nguyen Van Chung for over 5 years, and she has truly learned a great deal, not only in music but also in life philosophy. One of these lessons is kindness in her profession and in life, wholeheartedly pursuing her goals, and maintaining a positive outlook in any situation to keep herself calm and composed.

Bringing Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) to overseas Vietnamese...

* This Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse 2026), will you be spending quality time with your family or still busy performing shows?

- 2025 is a very special year for me, so I want to contribute even more. The Lunar New Year of 2026 will also be special because, in addition to my personal performance schedule, I will dedicate more time to community and charitable activities… And especially, in the two weeks before New Year's Eve, I had a business trip with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to bring Tet (Vietnamese New Year) to Vietnamese expatriates in Germany, France, and Belgium. This was also an opportunity for me to learn more about Vietnamese culture in these countries around the world . After that, I will definitely dedicate time to my family after a very busy year of work.

* In your memory, which Tet holiday stands out the most – and how does that memory influence how you perceive the meaning of spring today?

- For Quynh, every Tet (Lunar New Year) is a special occasion because it's a time to gather with loved ones; to confide in and share the gains and losses of the past year, and to discuss hopes for the coming year. If I had to choose one Tet that I remember most, it would be the Tet of my childhood, when I experienced many Tets with the distinctive flavors of the Central Highlands, simple and rustic. And those Tets were always filled with laughter. And it was those Tets that gave me the feeling of wanting to be closer to my family, which became the motivation for me to constantly dedicate myself and work with the desire to bring many good things home every Tet and to enjoy and preserve the unique characteristics of that Tet.

* Do you usually do anything special on Tet, New Year's Eve, or the first day of the Lunar New Year, for example?

- For Quynh, Tet (Lunar New Year) is always about family. Quynh will minimize accepting performance gigs to spend more time with her family, especially on New Year's Eve and the first day of Tet. Usually, on New Year's Eve, Quynh's family will gather together to offer a feast, watch TV - listen to the President's New Year's greetings, then give lucky money, and on the first day of Tet, they will go to the temple to pick lucky branches. These are the default activities for Quynh's family every Tet.

* Happy New Year, and today is February 14th. What are your wishes regarding your love life, for example, finding your soulmate or getting married?

- Currently, Quỳnh is prioritizing her work and self-development. She hasn't thought about relationships yet. And Quỳnh believes in fate. Who knows, maybe next year she'll meet someone special, and she'll be ready to embrace it.

* If there were another "connection" in music, would you hope to collaborate with Nguyen Van Chung to create a hit song like " Continuing the Story of Peace " ?

- Continuing to collaborate with the people who helped me achieve certain successes in my career, I think not only I but everyone would want that. Because when you collaborate with people who have been with you, the most obvious benefit is that you can save a lot of time, you don't need to research or guess their intentions, and thus you can produce better, more effective products. Besides that, I'm also collaborating with young musicians, those who love music but haven't had many opportunities to reach the audience like I did before, who knows, maybe a miracle will happen to someone.
