Nguyen Thi Oanh will not compete in the Taiwan Open Athletics Tournament.

The Taiwan Open is part of the Vietnamese athletics team's preparation for the 2023 Asian Games. The team has left for Taiwan (China) to participate in the tournament from May 25 to 29, with 13 athletes and 4 coaches. However, Nguyen Thi Oanh was not present on the trip with the team.

According to the General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Nguyen Thi Oanh was given a break. This athlete competed in many events at the 32nd SEA Games so she needed more rest. In addition, during her time back home, Nguyen Thi Oanh also had to travel to many places.

Nguyen Thi Oanh did not participate in the Taiwan Open.

The Vietnamese track and field team failed to meet its target of 14 gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games. The team missed its target by 2 gold medals. However, Nguyen Thi Oanh's achievements brought fame to Vietnamese track and field. She set a record of winning 2 gold medals in 30 minutes. Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in two close-time events: 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters steeplechase.

In addition, Nguyen Thi Oanh won 2 more gold medals in the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter events. The runner from Bac Giang made history as the first Vietnamese athlete to win 4 gold medals in one Games. In addition, she also owns 12 SEA Games gold medals in her collection.

Nguyen Thi Oanh received many valuable awards in both cash and kind. The most valuable award was the Second Class Labor Medal awarded bythe President .

Although she will not be participating in the Taiwan Open, Nguyen Thi Oanh will continue to train at home. In mid-July, she and the Vietnamese track and field team will go to Thailand to compete in the Asian Athletics Championships. After that, the track and field team will split into groups to train in Japan or China. In September, the team will participate in the 19th Asian Games held in China.
