Nguyen Trong Hoang 'tests his mettle' at Tien Phong Golf Championship before SEA Games 33

TPO - Before entering the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, Nguyen Trong Hoang will have an important "test of fire" at the Tien Phong Golf Championship 2025. The tournament is considered an opportunity for the 15-year-old talent to test his form, train his mentality and perfect his skills before representing Vietnam to compete in the regional arena.

New hope at SEA Games 33

Nguyen Trong Hoang is the first golfer to win a ticket to the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, after winning the Vietnam Open Amateur Golf Championship (VAO 2025) in June.

Amid the chilly atmosphere of Da Lat, the 2010-born boy made experts take their hats off when he overcame a series of strong opponents, including the reigning National Champion Nguyen Tuan Anh and the 32nd SEA Games Champion Le Khanh Hung, to be crowned at Dalat Palace Golf Club.

The victory at VAO 2025 is not only the first National title in his career, but also a ticket for Trong Hoang to touch the dream of wearing the Vietnamese team jersey to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, something that any young golfer desires.

Trong Hoang's impressive form then continued to be shown at the National Golf Championship - Gia Lai 2025, where he entered the top 4 finalists. With a solid swing technique, accurate drives, and a strong ability to compete under pressure, Trong Hoang is expected to become the great hope of the Vietnamese golf team at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.

Coach Bach Cuong Khang, who has accompanied Trong Hoang in many tournaments, commented: “Trong Hoang always shows determination and admirable competitive spirit. Although he is not as tall and big as many other golfers, in return, he is extremely precise and handles short shots very well. Hoang's passion and desire to contribute is what makes me believe that he will go very far in the future."

Before heading to the 33rd SEA Games, Nguyen Trong Hoang will compete at the Tien Phong Golf Championship 2025 - a tournament considered an important test of form and competitive mentality to prepare for the regional arena.

“I see Tien Phong Golf Championship as a big test,” Trong Hoang shared. “Not only to prove my ability, but also to challenge myself. My goal is to show my best performance.”

Currently, Trong Hoang is practicing at EPGA Academy and Every Golf, focusing on improving both long game and short game to perfect his skills comprehensively.

With the support from his family, coaching team and admirable spirit of progress, Trong Hoang is showing the image of a young athlete full of seriousness and ambition to reach far. The period 2022 - 2025 marks the strong rise of Nguyen Trong Hoang. The 15-year-old golfer has continuously made his mark at domestic and international tournaments, bringing new pride to Vietnamese golf. In 2022, Trong Hoang won the SINGHA Thailand Junior World Golf Championship, then won the U12 Palm Resort Junior Open Golf Championship in Malaysia. In 2023, his victory at the Junior Asian Tour in Thailand helped him appear on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) for the first time. In 2024, Trong Hoang won the runner-up position at the Maha Junior International Invitational before exploding at the Vietnam Amateur Open 2025 (VAO 2025), becoming the youngest champion in the history of the tournament. At the same time, he has always been in the leading group at the VGA Junior Tour stages as well as the National Youth Championship (VJO) in recent years.
